Responsible for developing safe, practical, and innovative process solutions while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams and client stakeholders.\nPrimary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:\nLead process engineering activities for capital projects within chemical, petrochemical, refining, specialty chemical, and industrial manufacturing facilities.\n\nServe as Process Lead on large capital projects and multiple concurrent projects.\n\nDevelop and review key process deliverables including:\nProcess Flow Diagrams (PFDs)\n\nPiping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)\n\nMaterial & Energy Balances\n\nEquipment Datasheets\n\nProcess Design Basis Documents\n\nHydraulic Calculations\n\nProcess Narratives\n\nRelief System Evaluations\n\nOperating and Design Philosophies\n\nDevelop process designs focused on safety, operability, reliability, maintainability, and cost-effective execution.\n\nEstablish project design criteria while ensuring compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and client requirements.\n\nLead process hazard evaluations and integrate process safety principles into every phase of design.\n\nSupport front-end loading activities, feasibility studies, conceptual design packages, and cost estimating efforts.\n\nDevelop equipment specifications and bid packages for major process equipment and systems.\n\nPerform and review advanced process engineering calculations and simulations.\n\nCollaborate closely with mechanical, piping, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and controls teams to deliver integrated project solutions.\n\nSupport client presentations, project reviews, proposal development, and business development activities.\n\nParticipate in field investigations, commissioning efforts, troubleshooting activities, and plant startup support.\n\nMentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across project teams.\n\nIdeal Background\nEducation: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university is required.\nRegistration: Professional Engineering registration or CPIP certification is highly preferred.\nExperience: This position requires 6+ years of process engineering experience supporting chemical, petrochemical, refining, specialty chemical, industrial manufacturing, or similar process industries. Experience leading process engineering efforts on capital projects from concept through execution.\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nChemical manufacturing processes\nPetrochemical facilities\nRefining operations\nSpecialty chemical production\nIndustrial manufacturing facilities\nFluid handling and hydraulic systems\nDistillation and separation processes\nHeat transfer and thermal systems\nProcess equipment specification\nUtility system design\nProcess safety management (PSM)\nHazard reviews (PHA, HAZOP, LOPA)\nRelief and flare system design\nProcess optimization and debottlenecking\nCapital project development and execution\nStartup and commissioning support\nRequired Technical Skills\nStrong understanding of process engineering fundamentals and industrial process design.\n\nAbility to lead development of design criteria and process scopes for capital projects.\n\nExperience preparing and reviewing engineering estimates, schedules, and staffing plans.\n\nKnowledge of process safety principles and their application to project development.\n\nAbility to review process deliverables for technical accuracy and quality.\n\nExperience working with process simulation software, including:\nAspen HYSYS\n\nAspen Plus\n\nPRO/II\n\nCHEMCAD\n\nProMax\n\nDYNSIM\n\nExperience with hydraulic simulation software such as:\nAFT Fathom\n\nAFT Arrow\n\nPIPE-FLO\n\nPIPEPHASE\n\nStrong understanding of equipment, instrumentation, piping systems, and process operations.\n\nExcellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.\n\nWilling to travel as required for pre-bid meetings, client presentations and project site meetings.\n\nVirtual team skills and cross divisional relationships are developed, and able to provide interoffice execution leadership and support.\n\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.\n\nHargrove Culture\nWe work to create an environment founded on trust, personal integrity, and a “team mentality” so that each person understands the value of their contributions both on a project and company-wide level.
