What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Generally responsible for performing all aspects of project management for moderately complex engineering project assignments ensuring total delivery of the services on time, within performance budget and quality expectations. This work will be performed under minimal supervision.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Embracing accountability for project success, delivering on cost, schedule and quality to meet Client expectations while achieving margin and cash flow targets for the office.
  • Successfully managing commercial contracts on one or more projects of various sizes, as assigned. Ensuring that invoices are paid in a timely manner, Project Change Notices are processed, monthly Office Earnings Reports (OER) are timely reviewed, and the project plans are current in system.
  • Accepting responsibility for overall project performance to include managing Aged A/R and Unbilled to maintain cash flow per plan.
  • Taking accountability for the quality of project deliverables. Ensuring Hargrove quality processes are followed and time is scheduled for single discipline checks, interdisciplinary checks and approval cycles. Ensuring vendor data is properly managed per procedures as design basis information.
  • Maintaining project control through actively monitoring discipline budget performance trends, schedule commitments, and quality standards. Understanding and effectively utilizing available project control tools.
  • Conducting regularly scheduled reviews of assigned projects with Project Controls to monitor project performance and confirm projects are on track for successful completion.
  • Managing aged accounts receivable (AR) and unbilled time and expenses for the complete portfolio and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Driving proper use of the PTdB to analyze and maintain up-to-date earned value progress reporting against budgeted and expended hours. Generating meaningful estimates to complete and accurately forecasting project budget outcomes for the office through each update cycle.
  • Owning final decision authority for all major technical, cost, schedule and performance decisions on assigned projects. Embracing project team input to support informed decision-making.
  • Accepting responsibility to know project scope, design criteria, specifications, and deliverable commitments and how they align with project specific scope, schedule and budget drivers for each project assignment.
  • Ensuring alignment of the Hargrove internal team and client team on scope, schedule and budget for project deliverables. Setting expectations in the kick-off phase and establishing communication protocols to manage expectations and maintain alignment, including application of Hargrove standard communication tools: Weekly Reports, Weekly Meetings, Monthly Reports, Project Schedule, Change Management Process, Action Items, etc.
  • Recognizing and communicating scope and /or schedule changes to the client promptly by championing the Project Change Management Process and promoting a proactive Change Management culture.
  • Planning and directing the work of your team to meet project goals. Communicating the plan to your team, the project leadership team and the client.
  • Leading the effort in building a productive Team both within Hargrove and with the client. Utilize rewards where applicable to recognize outstanding contributions.
  • Coordinating resource management with office leadership and other ongoing project work to support optimization of resource utilization while meeting project specific needs.
  • Supporting the office monthly internal project review process, including ensuring the preparation of, and presenting, the formal Internal Monthly Project Review when applicable.
  • Identifying and managing project risks, and ensuring Hargrove internal business risks, including risks to financial performance, are elevated to office leadership as they are identified, and when mitigated or realized.
  • Proactively managing use of HVE resources to achieve project and office targets.
  • Ensuring that applicable HMS project work processes and procedures are followed by all team members through all phases of engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Assessing the performance of project team members throughout the life of the project, working with resource leadership to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring project documentation is properly reviewed and approved by the client in a timely manner.
  • Providing Construction Phase Support, start-up assistance, and timely response to Requests for Information, as needed.
  • Promoting positive relations with the client, establishing and building on long term relationships that support mutual sustained success. Ensure client needs are met at all stages of the project.
  • Completing project closeout per Hargrove procedures, with consideration for client specific requirements.
  • Efficiently managing promotional projects minimizing the cost to Hargrove by working with the Engineering Resource Leaders to accurately estimate Professional Services hours and completing winning proposals within the budget and schedule objectives.

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university is preferred.

Certification: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires up to 10 years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.
