Here are 7 Things You Need to Know.\nWho You Are:\nThe Community Coordinator will bring a passion for Harlem Children’s Zone's mission: breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.\nThe Community Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering engagement, strengthening program implementation, and enhancing community partnerships within HCZ’s multi-generational community center. Serving youth, adults, and seniors, this role builds trusted relationships with participants and families, supports high-quality program delivery, and ensures that community voices are heard and reflected in the center’s activities. The Coordinator collaborates closely with program and leadership staff to promote consistent attendance, develop partnerships, and track outcomes aligned with HCZ’s mission of breaking the cycle of poverty.\nWhat You'll Do:\nKey Responsibilities:\n1. Family & Participant Engagement\nBuild meaningful connections with youth, adults, and senior participants.\nServe as a primary liaison between the community center and families.\nConduct outreach and maintain regular communication through phone calls, in-person meetings, and events.\n2. Attendance and Retention Support\nTrack daily and weekly attendance across all program areas.\nIdentify and address barriers to consistent participation.\nImplement strategies that improve retention and deepen participant investment.\n3. Community and Partner Engagement\nDevelop and sustain partnerships with local organizations, service providers, and community leaders.\nCoordinate community events and support center-wide initiatives.\nConnect families to internal and external resources aligned with their needs and interests.\n4. Program Development and Implementation\nLead daily operations and logistics of youth, adult, and senior programs.\nCollaborate with site staff to ensure high-quality, engaging, and culturally relevant programming.\nOffer input on program design and lead portions of programming when needed.\nCoordinate program logistics and maintain organized tracking of deliverables and timelines.\n5. Data Tracking and Reporting\nMaintain accurate records of attendance, engagement, and referral outcomes using designated systems.\nPrepare monthly reports and present findings to leadership.\nUse data to drive continuous program improvement.\nIn-Person Schedule:\nSeptember - June:\nMonday - Thursday (1pm-9pm), Saturdays (8am- 4pm)\nJuly - August:\nMonday - Friday (10:30am- 6:30pm) and select Saturdays\n*Must be available to work flexible hours (after hours, weekends, and holidays as needed)\nRequirements\nAssociate's or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education, Social Work, or a related field.\n2+ years of experience working for a community-based or youth/family-serving organization.\nStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across generations and cultures.\nExperience with program coordination, community outreach, or case management.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office and/or database systems for tracking and reporting.\nBenefits\nAs a member of the Harlem Children's Zone team, you will join a supportive and inclusive community dedicated to helping children, families - and our staff - thrive.
