The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, validation, and optimization of loudspeakers and transducer systems for automotive audio applications. This role requires strong mechanical & Transducer engineering fundamentals, hands-on product development experience, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and high-performance audio solutions.\nHow You’ll Make An Impact\nLead and support transducer development activities from concept generation through production launch.\nDesign and develop loudspeaker components and assemblies, including motor systems, diaphragms, suspensions, baskets, enclosures, and sealing systems.\nPerform mechanical feasibility studies, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, DRBFM, and design reviews.\nOptimize designs for performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and quality.\nDefine and execute Design Verification Plans (DVP) and validation activities.\nAnalyze test results and implement corrective actions to resolve performance or reliability issues.\nSupport acoustic, thermal, vibration, and durability assessments of transducer systems.\nConduct root cause investigations and lead problem-solving activities using structured methodologies.\nUtilize CAD and simulation tools to develop and validate mechanical designs.\nPerform FEA analysis for structural, vibration, and durability evaluations.\nSupport simulation-based optimization of loudspeaker and transducer performance.\nWork closely with Acoustic, Software, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Program Management teams.\nInterface with suppliers and customers to review designs, technical requirements, and validation results.\nSupport RFQ, development, VAVE, and production activities.\nPrepare and maintain engineering documentation including: CAD models and drawings Bills of Materials (BOM) DFMEA / PFMEA DVP&R Validation reports Technical presentations and engineering change documentation.\nWhat Makes You A Strong Fit\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.\n5-8 years of experience in loudspeaker, transducer, or electromechanical product development.\nStrong understanding of mechanical design principles, material selection, and manufacturing processes.\nExperience with injection-molded plastic, sheet metal, die-cast, rubber, foam, and adhesive applications.\nProficiency in CAD tools such as CATIA V5, Siemens NX, or similar.\nKnowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and DFM/DFA principles.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\nAbility to work effectively in a global cross-functional environment.\nBonus Points if You Have\nMaster’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.\nMinimum 2 years of experience in transducer design and development.\nExperience in transducer manufacturing operations and production processes.\nStrong attention to detail with demonstrated ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical implementations.\nBackground in automotive speaker design and development.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\nAbility to work effectively in a global cross-functional environment.\nThings To Know\nBe willing to travel up to 15%, domestically and internationally.\nBe willing to work in the R&D Center in Suzhou.\nWhat You Can Expect\nA hybrid work environment that balances flexibility with in-person collaboration, with most office-based roles onsite three days a week. \nAccess to employee discounts on HARMAN and Samsung products (including JBL, Harman / Kardon, AKG, and others) \nLearning and development opportunities through our award-winning HARMAN University programs \nWellness benefits designed to support your overall well-being \nTuition reimbursement support \nAccess to the HARMAN campus fitness center and cafeteria, where available \nAn inclusive and diverse work environment that supports both your professional and personal development \nHARMAN is proud to be an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
