Innovation, inclusivity and teamwork are a part of our DNA. When you add that to the challenges we take on and solve together, you’ll discover that at HARMAN you can grow, make a difference and be proud of the work you do every day.\nIntroduction: A Career at HARMAN Automotive\nWe’re a global, multi-disciplinary team that’s putting the innovative power of technology to work and transforming tomorrow. At HARMAN Automotive, we give you the keys to fast-track your career.\nEngineer audio systems and integrated technology platforms that augment the driving experience\nCombine ingenuity, in-depth research, and a spirit of collaboration with design and engineering excellence\nAdvance in-vehicle infotainment, safety, efficiency, and enjoyment\n\nAbout the Role\nAs a Data Platform Portfolio Manager, you will shape the demand, priorities, roadmap, dependencies, capacity, and investment portfolio for HARMAN Automotive’s Enterprise Data Platform. Reporting to the Executive Director of Data and Analytics, you will work across business domains, data product teams, platform engineering, analytics, AI, architecture, security, and leadership to anticipate needs and help translate them into a coherent, sequenced platform portfolio.\nThis role owns the portfolio management discipline that supports effective platform decisions: understanding demand, challenging and refining requests, identifying cross-domain dependencies, balancing strategic capabilities with near-term needs, and maintaining a forward-looking view of platform capacity and investment. You will provide the transparency and analysis needed for the Data Platform Manager to make final roadmap, resource, and prioritization decisions.\nThis is not a traditional PMO coordination role and does not own hands-on platform engineering. It requires enough commercial and technical depth to understand modern data platforms, data products, cloud capabilities, delivery constraints, and operating-model choices so that limited engineering capacity is consistently applied to the work that creates the greatest value.\nWhat You Will Do\nOwn the platform demand and portfolio planning process, working with business and technology stakeholders to develop a consolidated view of current demand, emerging needs, strategic opportunities, and upcoming platform requirements.\nShape demand before it becomes urgent by engaging business domains, data product teams, analytics, AI/ML, architecture, governance, security, and technology leaders to identify future requirements, dependencies, constraints, and opportunities for reuse.\nTranslate priorities into a sequenced platform roadmap and backlog, recommending how strategic platform capabilities, technical improvements, onboarding needs, regulatory or risk requirements, and near-term business demand should be balanced over time.\nManage intake, prioritization, sequencing, dependencies, and capacity planning across the portfolio, partnering with the Data Platform Manager, Platform Engineers, and Data Platform Reliability Engineers to understand delivery constraints and develop realistic portfolio options.\nApply clear prioritization and investment criteria to distinguish high-value or strategic needs from lower-value requests, constructively challenge demand, and make trade-offs visible to stakeholders and decision-makers.\nSupport the hub-and-spoke data operating model by helping determine whether capabilities should be developed centrally, reused from the platform, federated to domains, adopted as common services, or delivered within individual domain and data product teams.\nCoordinate domain onboarding demand without turning the central platform organization into a delivery factory, clarifying platform responsibilities, domain responsibilities, prerequisites, dependencies, and expected adoption before work enters the committed roadmap.\nMaintain portfolio transparency across initiatives, milestones, capacity, dependencies, risks, decisions, expected outcomes, and material changes in demand, providing concise recommendations and trade-off views for the Data Platform Manager and senior stakeholders.\nMaintain a forward-looking portfolio view spanning data engineering, governed data products, analytics, AI/ML, governance, security, self-service capabilities, platform reliability, operational improvements, and other platform capabilities required by the organization.\nPartner with the Data Platform Manager on investment planning, including business cases, funding requirements, resource scenarios, vendor considerations, licensing or consumption implications, and recommendations for where additional investment will have the greatest impact.\nTrack value realization from platform investments, including adoption, reuse, business outcomes, engineering efficiency, cost avoidance, platform utilization, or reduction of operational and technology risk.\nSupport portfolio planning for legacy technology transition, including Snowflake and Qlik rationalization where relevant, by identifying demand, sequencing dependencies, platform readiness, and competing priorities without taking ownership of the migrations themselves.\nImprove portfolio management practices over time, including roadmap governance, prioritization methods, demand forecasting, capacity views, portfolio metrics, backlog quality, and the quality of information available for investment and prioritization decisions.\nWhat You Need to Be Successful\n7+ years of experience in technology portfolio management, product management, data or technology strategy, enterprise technology delivery, or a related discipline.\nProven experience managing complex technology portfolios with competing priorities, significant dependencies, multiple stakeholder groups, and constrained engineering or delivery capacity.\nStrong understanding of modern data-platform concepts, including cloud platforms, data engineering, governed data products, analytics, AI/ML, data governance, platform services, and self-service operating models.\nDemonstrated experience developing roadmaps and applying structured approaches to demand management, backlog prioritization, dependency management, capacity planning, sequencing, and value realization.\nStrong business and technology judgment, including the ability to challenge requests constructively, identify underlying needs, assess relative value, and distinguish strategic requirements from lower-priority demand.\nExperience working across business stakeholders, engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, finance, procurement, vendors, and senior technology leadership.\nStrong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex priorities, constraints, trade-offs, risks, and recommendations clear to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nExperience working with agile or product-oriented delivery models and portfolio/backlog management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or comparable platforms.\nBonus Points if You Have\nExperience with Microsoft Azure, Databricks, or comparable enterprise-scale cloud data platforms.\nExperience working within a federated or hub-and-spoke data organization, including shared platform services and domain-owned data products.\nExperience supporting technology investment planning, budgeting, vendor planning, commercial assessments, or business-case development.\nExperience measuring platform adoption, technology investment outcomes, reuse, cost efficiency, or other forms of value realization.\nExperience supporting data-platform modernization, technology rationalization, or transitions from legacy analytics and data platforms in a global organization.\nWhat Makes You Eligible\nYou are willing to travel, if necessary.\nIdeally, you live near Novi, MI. Because this is a hybrid role, commuting to our Novi office will be required each week.\nSuccessfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment\n\nWhat We Offer\nAccess to employee discounts on world-class products (JBL, HARMAN Kardon, AKG, and more)\nExtensive training opportunities through our own HARMAN University\nCompetitive wellness benefits\nTuition reimbursement\n“Be Brilliant” employee recognition and rewards program\nAn inclusive and diverse work environment that fosters and encourages professional and personal development\nSalary Ranges:\n$ 108,750 - $ 159,500HARMAN is proud to be an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard torace, religion, color, national origin, gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.","description_format":"text","description_chars":8929,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":7,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Headphones & Audio","Car Electronics","Automotive Components","Automotive Software"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-27T04:00:52Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":63,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.632,"p_room":1,"age_days":1,"expected_fill_days":33,"reasons":["conf:1","stale_co","velocity","win:early","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-27T05:46:45Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":159500,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/harman-international-data-platform-portfolio-manager","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/harman-international-data-platform-portfolio-manager.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-27T13:35:49Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1822,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-28T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":6265},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=6265"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fharman-international-data-platform-portfolio-manager"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fharman-international-data-platform-portfolio-manager"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fharman-international-data-platform-portfolio-manager"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/harman-international-data-platform-portfolio-manager\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fharman-international-data-platform-portfolio-manager"}]}
