At HARMAN Automotive, we give you the keys to fast-track your career.\nEngineer audio systems and integrated technology platforms that augment the driving experience.\nCombine ingenuity, in-depth research, and a spirit of collaboration with design and engineering excellence.\nAdvance in-vehicle infotainment, safety, efficiency, and enjoyment.\nAbout the Role\nWe are an automotive Tier-1 supplier developing electronic control and computing platforms for next-generation vehicles.\nOur R&D team moves fast, and a surprising amount of engineering time is lost to things that are not engineering: missing samples, unclear hand-offs, duplicated work, and process steps nobody has questioned in years.\nWe are looking for a highly organized intern to help us bring order to the team and clarity to the process.\nYou will spend roughly half your time on physical and digital asset organization, and the other half mapping how our R&D process actually runs - then helping us remove the friction.\nThis is a hands-on role: you will be the person who knows where everything is, and why a project is stuck.\nWhat You Will Do\nAsset & Lab Organization (~50%)\nInventory, label, and organize hardware samples, evaluation boards, test fixtures, cables, tools, and spare parts in the R&D lab\nBuild and maintain a searchable inventory system (spreadsheet or lightweight database) covering location, status, owner, and revision\nSet up a check-in / check-out process for shared equipment and prototype hardware\nOrganize and archive technical documents, test reports, and supplier materials so they can be retrieved in minutes rather than days\nRun periodic audits and reconcile physical stock against records\nR&D Process Tracking & Bottleneck Analysis (~50%)\nTrack project milestones, deliverables, and open actions across multiple workstreams; follow up with owners and flag slippage early\nMap the end-to-end R&D workflow (requirements → design → prototype → validation → release) and document how it really works, not how it is supposed to work\nCollect data on cycle time, waiting time, rework loops, and hand-off delays; identify and quantify the top bottlenecks\nInterview engineers and project managers to understand where time is actually lost\nPropose practical improvements, run small pilots, and measure the before/after\nDraft SOPs, checklists, and templates so that improvements stick\nPrepare concise weekly status reports and dashboards for the R&D leadership team\nWhat You Will Learn\nHow a Tier-1 automotive R&D organization really operates, from requirements to SOP\nAutomotive development frameworks\nPractical process-improvement methods : value stream mapping, root-cause analysis\nHow to influence without authority in a multi-team engineering environment\nWhat You Need to Be Successful\nExceptional organizational skills and attention to detail\nComfortable with spreadsheets: formulas, pivot tables, clean data hygiene\nClear written and verbal communication in both Chinese and English\nSelf-directed: you can walk up to an engineer you have never met and ask what is slowing them down\nWhat Makes You Eligible\nFamiliarity with automotive development or quality processes\nExperience with project or issue tracking tools (Jira, Confluence)\nBasic data analysis or visualization\nInterest in EVs, ADAS, or autonomous driving\nWhat We Offer\nExtensive training opportunities through our own HARMAN University\nAn inclusive and diverse work environment that fosters and encourages professional and personal development\nHARMAN is proud to be an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
