The role includes leading architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and quality of software platforms, and collaborating closely with global engineering teams and stakeholders. We are looking for a passionate technology leader with strong expertise in software architecture, modern C++ development, Linux-based systems, and automotive software development who is excited to shape the future of AR experiences.\nWhat You Will Do\nDefine and drive system and software architecture for SVS and Augmented Reality products and platforms.\n\nEnsure architectural alignment across software components, system requirements, hardware constraints, and customer needs.\n\nAugmented Reality products and platforms.\n\nLead architectural design activities, ensuring alignment of technical solutions with product, customer, and business requirements.\n\nAlign architectural decisions across multiple stakeholders, balancing business goals, customer requirements, technical constraints, and long-term product strategy.\n\nDrive architecture reviews and provide technical leadership for development teams working with modern C++ on Linux and embedded platforms.\n\nEstablish and promote software engineering best practices, including clean architecture principles, design patterns, code quality standards, and maintainable software design.\n\nCollaborate closely with development teams to guide implementation, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and support critical design decisions.\n\nAnalyze technical risks, system constraints, and hardware/software limitations, providing mitigation strategies and architectural recommendations.\n\nDefine and maintain architectural documentation using UML and related documentation standards.\n\nPartner with management, customers, product owners, and global engineering teams to ensure successful delivery of high-quality software solutions.\n\nSupport platform adaptation and integration activities across Linux-based and embedded automotive environments.\n\nEvaluate new technologies, tools, and development approaches to improve software quality, engineering efficiency, and product scalability.\n\nInteract with Harman suppliers, Augmented Reality domain experts, and customers, both locally and internationally.\n\nWhat You Need to Be Successful\n5+ years of professional experience in modern C++ (C++14 or newer) software development on Linux platforms, including experience working on complex software systems.\n\n2+ years of experience in software architecture, technical leadership, or senior technical roles involving architectural decision-making.\n\nMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.\n\nStrong understanding of object-oriented programming, software design patterns (GoF), SOLID principles, and clean architecture concepts.\n\nHands-on experience with STL, Boost libraries, algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization techniques.\n\nSolid knowledge of Linux and Embedded Linux environments, including understanding of hardware and software constraints on ARM-based platforms.\n\nExperience with software design and architectural documentation using UML.\n\nPractical experience with Git, CMake, and debugging tools such as GDB.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess technical risks and define effective solutions.\n\nExcellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with management, customers, product owners, and global engineering teams.\n\nWhat we offer\nWork in international teams with the world’s largest automotive manufacturers.\n\nUse HARMAN Flex - choose the right working model fitting their job (Hybrid or Office)\n\nAccess career development opportunities and get both on the job training on high-end automotive projects, as well as extensive technical trainings.\n\nAccess HARMAN Webshop with large employee discounts for audio products (JBL, HARMAN Kardon, AKG)\n\nAre encouraged to a healthy work/life balance with a progressive holiday plan based on total work experience, 2 sick days, 3 days off compensation for weekend legal holidays and flextime.\n\nAnd of course, enjoy meal tickets, a premium medical subscription, fitness discounts and other corporate perks.\n\nHARMAN is proud to be an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
