Harris is seeking experienced finance professionals to join our team in the capacity of Assistant Controller.\nThe ideal candidate for this role has their professional accounting designation (or is currently enrolled as a student); a strong technical accounting foundation under IFRS; a reviewer’s mindset; and a passion for continuous learning and improvement. As Assistant Controller, you will be part of the Harris finance management team and will provide technical accounting support across our business units. You will play a critical role in the month, quarter, and year-end close, with a particular focus on revenue recognition for complex software contracts under IFRS 15, while also supporting acquisition accounting, consolidation reporting and audits. You will work closely with business unit finance teams, senior leadership and our external auditors\nHarris reports under IFRS. Our parent company, Constellation Software Inc., is based in Toronto, Canada, and is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.\nThe role can be based in our Ottawa office or remotely within Canada. Some limited travel may be required.\nWHAT YOU WILL DO\nReview complex revenue recognition for software contracts which are accounted for under IFRS 15, including regular review of WIP schedules\nReview purchase price allocations (PPAs) for acquisitions, including net tangible asset (NTA) workbooks, intangible asset valuations, and purchase price reconciliations.\nHelp implement new accounting standards and resolve accounting matters through independent research, discussion and collaboration in areas such as revenue recognition and acquisition accounting\nReview variance analysis (actuals to forecast and prior period) ranging from a level of across all of Harris, specific verticals, or specific business units\nReview account reconciliations\nProvide coaching and mentoring to accounting staff\nWHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR\nUndergraduate degree in business, finance, or accounting \n4+ years of experience in an accounting or finance environment \nCompleted or working towards a CPA designation\nExperience with complex revenue recognition \nExperience with IFRS reporting framework \nWHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT\nExperience with project accounting (% complete) and software revenue recognition \nExposure to business combinations (IFRS 3), purchase price allocations or intangible asset valuations\nCPA designation\nFormal or informal people management experience \nPublic accounting experience\nWHAT WE OFFER\nThree weeks' vacation (four weeks after three years and five weeks after seven years) plus five personal days\nComprehensive Medical, Dental and Vision coverage from your first day of employment\nFinancial and professional development support for CPA candidates and members\nEmployee stock ownership and RRSP matching programs\nLifestyle rewards program\nFlexible work options\nPerformance driven organization with many opportunities for advancement\nAnd more!\nCOMPENSATION DETAILS\nThe potential salary range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000 per year, with eligibility for bonus or merit program.
