The role begins with functional and regression testing, test data preparation and defect reporting, and builds toward authoring automated tests with support from a senior engineer.\nThe ideal candidate is methodical, curious about how the system works underneath the screen, and wants to build an engineering career in quality rather than only execute scripts.\nKey Responsibilities\nFunctional and Regression Testing\nExecute functional, integration and regression test cases against assigned products and record results with evidence.\nWrite test cases from requirements and acceptance criteria. Tests must never be written from the application under test, because code-derived tests treat existing defects as correct behavior.\nMaintain the regression suite for an assigned product and flag coverage gaps.\nSupport release testing and production verification.\nTest Data and Backend Validation\nCreate and maintain test data, including records that trigger validation and error paths.\nValidate results in the database using SQL where the user interface does not show the full picture.\nReconcile data between systems on conversion and integration work.\nTest Automation\nRun existing automated suites, triage failures and report whether the cause is the product or the test.\nAuthor and extend automated tests in the existing framework with support from a senior engineer.\nGrow toward owning automation for an assigned module.\nAI-Assisted Testing\nUse approved AI tools and team prompts to draft test cases and automation.\nReview every AI-generated artefact against the requirement before it is used. The requirement decides what is correct, not the generated output.\nAccessibility\nRun automated accessibility scans against WCAG 2.1 Level AA and record the findings.\nCarry out keyboard-only navigation checks, and screen reader checks after paired training.\nCapture the evidence needed to support conformance reporting.\nDefect Management\nRaise defects and document steps to reproduce; name the control, state what was expected, state what happened, and attach the evidence.\nAssign severity using the agreed definitions and retest fixes against a named build.\nCollaboration\nParticipate in sprint planning, backlog refinement and defect triage.\nRaise questions on requirements early.\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation and Experience\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.\n1+ years of software testing experience, including internship or placement experience.\nExposure to automated testing, whether professional, academic or self-taught.\nTechnical Skills\nWorking SQL, enough to query and validate data independently.\nFamiliarity with at least one automation framework such as Playwright, Selenium or Cypress.\nSome programming exposure in TypeScript, JavaScript, C# or Python.\nFamiliarity with source control or a work tracking tool such as Azure DevOps, Jira or Aha.\nUnderstanding of Agile and Scrum delivery.\nAnalytical Skills\nAttention to detail and the discipline to record results accurately.\nWillingness to say when something is unclear rather than guess the expected result.\nClear written communication in defect reports and status updates.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExposure to API testing with Postman or similar.\nExposure to accessibility testing or tools such as axe-core, Lighthouse or NVDA.\nExposure to AI-assisted testing tools.\nExperience in payroll, finance, ERP or public sector software.\nSuccess Metrics\nTest cases executed and recorded with complete evidence and no blank results.\nDefects raised that developers could reproduce without going back for more detail.\nGrowing share of assigned regression executed through automation rather than by hand.\nIndependent test data preparation within the first six months.\nSalary range: $70,000 -
