of complications and/or morbidity\n\nIdentify coding trends, documentation deficiencies, and compliance risks through routine audits.\nProvide detailed and constructive feedback to coders regarding coding accuracy, productivity, and documentation opportunities.\nConduct one-on-one and group feedback sessions to improve coding quality and consistency.\nCollaborate with Coding Leadership, Educators, Physicians, and Operational Teams to address coding issues and improve overall coding performance.\nMonitor coding quality metrics and prepare audit reports, scorecards, and trend analyses.\nParticipate in root cause analysis for coding errors and implement corrective action plans.\nAssist in developing coding guidelines, audit tools, educational materials, and standard operating procedures.\nSupport internal and external audit activities and respond to coding-related inquiries.\nEducate coders and providers on documentation requirements supporting accurate code assignment and E/M level selection.\nStay current with:ICD-10-CM updates\nCPT and HCPCS changes\nCMS guidelines\nAMA E/M revisions\nED-specific payer requirements\n\nQualifications\nCertification in Medical Coding:CPC, COC, CCS, CIC, or equivalent preferred\n\nMinimum 3 years of Emergency Department coding experience.\nMinimum 1-2 years of coding quality review, auditing, mentoring, or senior coding experience preferred.\nStrong understanding of:Emergency Department workflows\nMDM-based E/M coding guidelines\nICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems\n\nExperience reviewing provider documentation and identifying documentation improvement opportunities.\nStrong knowledge of coding compliance, regulatory requirements, and payer guidelines.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\nStrong communication and coaching abilities.\nHigh attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.\nPreferred Skills\nExperience performing coding audits and quality assurance reviews.\nAbility to mentor and provide actionable feedback to coding teams.\nExperience with audit scorecards, accuracy tracking, and quality reporting.\nStrong understanding of NCCI edits, LCD/NCD guidelines, and payer-specific reimbursement requirements.\nProficiency in coding software, audit tools, encoder systems, and EHR platforms.\nAbility to identify coding trends and recommend process improvements.\nStrong organizational and time-management skills.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.\nCommitment to continuous learning and
