Through dynamic and collaborative partnerships, CADM provides high-quality and efficient services to the schools to help them achieve their goals.\n A specially trained mechanic skilled in operating and servicing utility systems (chilled water, steam, and compressed air generation/distribution systems and related equipment/components; water/drainage distribution systems; and other related systems).\nResponsible for maintaining an intimate knowledge of such systems and identifying and resolving problems associated with each system consistent with recognized trade practices, industry standards, codes/jurisdictional authorities, and University guidelines/practices.\nMust maintain work area, tools, and equipment in accordance with University standards/practices.\nRequired to work independently and/or with others under the guidance of the Manager and/or Working Foremen.\nJob-Specific Responsibilities:\nOperates and maintains chilled water, steam, and compressed air generation/distribution systems and related equipment/components; water/drainage distribution systems; and other related equipment/systems as directed. \nWorks with other personnel to maintain reliable utility service and efficient performance. \nTakes equipment readings critical for operations, maintenance history, billing, etc. \nCompletes logs, prepares reports, and enters data/information into computers as necessary. \nPerforms inspections and preventive maintenance on various equipment as directed. \nMaintains work area, tools, and equipment. Cleans and maintains utility facilities as directed. \nObserves and complies with all standard safety codes and/or practices and performs work in accordance with recognized trade practices, industry standards, codes and/or requirements of jurisdictional authorities, and University guidelines and/or practices. \nRequired to supply a complete set of hand tools. \nRequired to wear a clean, neat uniform and maintain a professional image at all times. \nAlso required to wear safety equipment and clothing when appropriate and/or required. \nPerforms other core skills of the trades and related duties as required. \nWorking Conditions:\nEmergency Status Designation - Critical Operations Personnel (required to provide on-site support during emergency situations as determined by management).\nPhysical Requirements:\nRequired to bend, reach, and hold awkward positions for prolonged periods. \nRequired to lift up to 75 pounds and to lift and transport various types of equipment and tools, with others, in excess of 300 pounds. \nMust be able to push and pull heavy loads as listed above. \nMust be able to work for extended periods of time from/in ladders, high places, cramped spaces, confined spaces, and scaffolding. \nRequires considerable walking, climbing, bending, and stooping.\n Basic Qualifications:\nFive (5) years’ experience in the trade as a journeyman; current Pipefitter’s license and EPA CFC Technician certification required. \nCompletion of a trade or vocational school program required. \nPrevious experience in the installation, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of all components and/or systems (chillers, boilers, piping systems, compressors, cooling towers, pumps, water treatment systems, controls, etc.) pertaining to the various utility generation and distribution systems noted above. \nMust have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.\nAdditional Qualifications and Skills:\nOil Burner Technician’s, Fireman’s, or Operating Engineer’s License strongly preferred.\nAble to read and interpret plans, specifications, and operating/technical manuals associated with systems/equipment within his/her work scope. \nAbility to work independently and take initiative when necessary, as well as be capable of working as a member of a team in conjunction with other trades. \nQuality-focused, service-oriented, and able to clearly and professionally communicate in English with peers, managers, and customers.\nOperation of state-of-the-art, computer-based control systems required.\nCertificates and Licenses:\nTrade as a journeyman, current Pipefitter’s license and EPA CFC Technician certification required\nMust have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license\n Standard Hours/Schedule: 40 hours per week\nSunday: Off\nMonday: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm\nTuesday: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm\nWednesday: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm\nThursday: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm\nFriday: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm\nSaturday: Off\nCompensation Range/Rate (including Shift Differential if applicable):\n$57.49/hour\nVisa Sponsorship Information:\nHarvard University is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position\nPre-Employment Screening:\nIdentity, Education, Criminal, Certification/License, Motor Vehicle Record, Drug Test, DOT Physical\nWork Format Details\nThis position has been determined by school or unit leaders that all duties and responsibilities must be performed at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location.
