At the heart of Hastings is deep risk insight - continually improving how we assess, segment and price risk through data and analytics.\nJob details:\n Deliver accurate, timely and insightful analysis, reports and dashboards that support underwriting decisions across portfolio performance, profitability, risk and customer outcomes.\nMonitor key performance indicators and profit drivers, identifying trends, risks, opportunities and emerging areas of focus.\nMove beyond reporting the numbers by investigating potential drivers and translating findings into clear, actionable insight.\nDevelop, maintain and improve Power BI dashboards and recurring reporting, rationalising and automating outputs where appropriate so they remain relevant, reliable and easy to use.\nWrite well-structured SQL and analytical code with clear documentation, reproducible logic and appropriate validation.\nReconcile data sources and investigate discrepancies to support a consistent and trusted view of performance.\nWork with stakeholders to define requirements and translate business questions into analytical solutions.\nPresent complex information in a clear and engaging way, using effective data visualisation and storytelling techniques.\nUse AI and automation responsibly where they improve the quality, speed or accessibility of analysis, while applying appropriate review and validation.\nContribute to continuous improvement across data quality, reporting processes, analytical methods and team standards.\nOwn tasks and deliverables, working autonomously while aligning priorities with team and departmental objectives.\nCollaborate with analysts, data engineers, BI specialists and business stakeholders to deliver effective outcomes.\nEssential skills/experience:\nExperience delivering analysis, management information, reporting or business intelligence outputs.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the curiosity to challenge assumptions and investigate why results have changed.\nExperience writing SQL and working with structured data.\nExperience using a BI or data visualisation tool, preferably Power BI.\nThe ability to plan and structure analysis, validate outputs and deliver reliable work independently, while seeking input when risks, assumptions or priorities need clarification.\nAn understanding of business KPIs and how analytical measures link to commercial or customer outcomes.\nClear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical or complex findings to non-technical audiences.\nGood judgement about when to work independently, when to collaborate and when to escalate risks or uncertainties.\nAn interest in using AI responsibly to improve analytical delivery; practical experience is beneficial but not essential.\nAs a Disability Confident employer, we’re committed to ensuring our recruitment processes are fully inclusive - what this means to you is if you’re applying for a job with us, you’ll have fair access to support and adjustments throughout your recruitment journey.
