Join our vision of a low-carbon world and help make positive change!\nWe are seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to become part of our Hydropower and Dams team in our Niagara Falls office. This is a position for which your focus will be to support and execute hydro and dam-related projects and ensure technical excellence within the existing team. You will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team providing engineering services to large and small hydropower and dams owners in Ontario, across Canada, and globally.\nIn the Niagara Falls office you will have the opportunity to be involved in some of the most exciting hydropower and dam projects worldwide. Niagara Falls is just a quick drive to Ontario’s wine country and the Toronto/Mississauga area and allows easy access to the state of New York in the US.\nAs a successful candidate, you will:\nPerform system analyses, establish user requirements, analyze system functional and performance requirements, define design criteria, and provide input to the design team on layouts and designs\nLeading and managing the process of engineering commitments in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and procedures to ensure successful project completion\nInterfacing with other engineering disciplines involved in projects, as required\nTaking ownership of the high level technical deliverables\nDeveloping preliminary and detailed designs as well as overseeing and guiding the preparation of mechanical drawings and engineering specifications for construction\nBeing an active participant in technical design reviews and calculation checks\nProviding mentoring, coaching, technical guidance and quality assurance to other engineers in order to ensure the technical adequacy of engineering work\nPrepare technical specifications based on input received from other disciplines\nManage and review engineering work packages associated with project deliverables including management of project budgets and schedule\nPrepare, review or approve technical deliverables such as equipment designs, specifications, data sheets, calculations, etc.\nPrepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertise\nProvide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates\nPrepare, review or approve project standard specifications and design criteria\nProvide input to 3D models and 2D mechanical drawings\nParticipate in and contribute to design reviews\nAssist in the commissioning of systems on site as required\nFollow company standard quality procedures\nPrepare or provide input to proposals in the area of expertise\nYou bring to the role:\nA Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering\nA Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering would be considered an asset\nRegistration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario or other Canadian Province (candidates with strong international experience and eligibility for P Eng. designation in Canada will be considered)\nA minimum of 15 years of professional experience preferably roating equipment\nExperience working on hydropower projects (i.e., dams and gates) nice to have\nProficiency with Computer Design Tools (Mathcad, AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks) will be considered an asset\nExperience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs\nKnowledge of Canadian and provincial codes and standards\nStrong client focus and a desire to achieve results including the ability to manage multiple priorities and time lines\nExperience in leading small and large mechanical teams in multi-disciplinary projects\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills\nGood planning and organizational skills\nAbility to function with minimal supervision\nAbility to delegate tasks and effectively supervise engineers and designers\nBase salary range: $115,000 - $165,000\nAt Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
