The Mechanical & Piping Engineer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services to large and small projects. The Senior Mechanical & Piping Engineer is broadly responsible for establishing system requirements, performing functional analyses, defining design criteria, preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports. In addition, the Mechanical Engineer is required to develop, or provide input into, 3D models and 2D drawings.\nThe Mechanical & Piping Engineer reports to the Lead Mechanical Engineer on a large project and to the Project Manager or the Engineering Manager on a small project. The Mechanical & Piping Engineer may supervise junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologists on a project. Mentor young engineers as part of their career development programs.\nThis position reports to the Regional Manager, Mechanical & Piping.\nPrinciple Duties and Responsibilities:\nDefine project scope\nAssist the Engineering Manager/Lead Mechanical Engineer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule.\nPerform system analyses, establish user requirements, analyze system functional and performance requirements, define design criteria, and establish system layouts and designs.\nPrepare engineering calculations such as hydraulic modeling, stress analysis, equipment sizing and tank, pressure vessel and bin design and ensuring that all analyses satisfy user and system requirements.\nPrepare technical specifications based on input received from other disciplines.\nConduct interface management between related systems.\nPrepare data sheets based on input received from other disciplines.\nPrepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertise.\nProvide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates.\nPrepare and/or review project standard specifications and design criteria.\nPrepare or provide input to 3D models and 2D mechanical drawings.\nParticipate in and contribute to design reviews.\nCarry out assigned tasks within budget and schedule.\nStamp documents and drawings as required and if appropriately registered.\nManage small capital and maintenance projects.\nAssist in preparing proposals.\nReview and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologists.\nAssist in the compilation and delivery of monthly engineering status reports.\nConstruction supervision and management dependent upon project demands.\nAssist in the commissioning of systems on site as required.\nKnowledge/Skill/Ability Requirements:\nBachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.\n5-15 years of experience in heavy industy.\nKnowledge of industry standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the mechanical engineering discipline.\nAbility to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team and coordinate mechanical activities between disciplines.\nSound knowledge of 3D data centric design systems.\nSound knowledge of engineering management systems.\nAbility to delegate tasks and effectively supervise others.\nExperience in the use of procedures and workflows in the execution of projects.\nBase Salary Range: $102,000 - $125,000\nAt Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
