We are a well-funded, fast-moving vertical SaaS company bringing modern software to an essential industry where the customer need is clear and the opportunity is large.\nRole Summary\nWe are hiring a Lead Mobile Engineer (Contractor) to be the most senior engineer on our mobile team. Today we have a native Kotlin Android app; you will help evaluate Kotlin Multiplatform and lead the build-out of our first iOS app (iPad first, phones later) while strengthening the offline-first foundation across both platforms.\nThis is a hands-on role. You will write code daily, drive architectural decisions across iOS and Android, and mentor the mobile team. It requires strong technical judgment, comfort with ambiguity, and clear communication in a remote environment.\nAI-First Engineering\nWe are intentionally building an AI-assisted engineering organization. AI tools are part of the daily workflow, not optional.\nWhat this means in practice:\nDaily use of tools such as Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot\n\nAI-assisted implementation, refactoring, test generation, and boilerplate\n\nYou focus on architecture, edge cases, and quality\n\nYou review all AI-generated output with a trust-but-verify mindset\n\nThis role is not a fit for engineers who are resistant to AI-assisted development or who rely on AI output without understanding the code being produced.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the evaluation of Kotlin Multiplatform for sharing business logic across Android and iOS, and own the recommendation\n\nArchitect and build our first iOS app, targeting iPads used by drivers in the field\n\nContribute to and review work in our existing Kotlin Android app - shared architecture decisions serve both platforms\n\nStrengthen offline-first architecture: local persistence, background sync, conflict resolution, and reliable photo capture/upload under poor connectivity\n\nWork with maps, location, and in-app navigation in a location-heavy product\n\nSet mobile engineering standards across iOS and Android through code reviews, architectural guidance, and mentorship\n\nCollaborate closely with backend, design, product, and QA in a fast-moving startup environment\n\nRequired Qualifications\n8+ years building production mobile applications, with deep iOS/Swift expertise\n\nWorking proficiency in Kotlin, with the ability to contribute to and review a production Android codebase\n\nHands-on Kotlin Multiplatform experience integrating shared code into native apps\n\nExperience building offline-first mobile apps with real-time, two-way data sync\n\nExperience with mapping SDKs and location-heavy applications\n\nExperience leading or mentoring mobile engineers\n\nStrong CI/CD experience for mobile, such as Fastlane, Bitrise, or GitHub Actions\n\nClear written and verbal communication in English; comfortable working async across time zones\n\nNice to Have\nDeep Android production experience, including shipping and operating Android apps at scale\n\nFirebase/Firestore\n\nCamera, photo
