We're looking for hands on, proactive DevOps Engineers who are strategic thinkers, but also more than capable to roll up their sleeves and implement key initiatives\nThe DevOps senior Engineer role is a role within the bank and you will need to be able to understand the complex requirements of delivering software in a regulated environment, have a detailed understanding of the technical building blocks used to build / test / deploy our applications, and can communicate this to both a non-technical and technical audience.\nKey Responsibilities\nYou will be a strong, technical & proactive engineer who will be responsible for:\nWorking closely with our engineering teams to understand their product requirements, how they build / test / deploy their software applications\nProvide guidance on DevOps tools, environments & best practices to our teams that have been developed by the DevOps Centre of Excellence (DCOE)\nContribute to the DCOE initiatives, either in the form of documentation and best practices or helping to deliver strategic solutions to the bank that work for our engineering teams.\nYou are able to promote DevOps internally within the bank, and be an advocate for clean, rapid & robust software delivery pipelines within the bank\nYou have a excellent technical background and you can seamlessly move from the presentation deck to the code editor and help realize our strategic ambitions\nWhat is the Opportunity\nTo work with our Engineering Factories & DevOps Centre of Excellence to build best in class in delivery pipelines.\nSkill Requirements\nEssential Skills and Experience\nA minimum of 8 years in either a software development role where you have excellent exposure to releasing applications into a production environment or an operational facing role where you've had to deploy and support production type workloads\nYou can articulate technical designs and processes to both engineering teams and non-technical audiences\nExposure to the requirements of delivering software in regulated environments, and comfortable with a large number of stakeholders who need to understand how your processes are designed and delivered.\nExcellent communication skills and comfortable with Email and other team collaboration tools. \nExperience using the Atlassian tool stack - Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket & Crucible\nOther Requirements\nIf you've done software development, we would look for:\nExcellent skills in one of the main scripting languages such as python, perl, ruby and their test frameworks\nStrong development background in languages such as C, C#, Java, Golang and a thorough understanding of their test frameworks\nYou have developed applications that have involved the delivery and consumption of API's\nExposure to one or more cloud providers (AWS / Azure / GCP) and you're comfortable with how to provision infrastructure using the portal UI.\nExcellent hands on experience in CI tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo etc.\nYou're used tools like Ansible / Puppet / Chef to deliver infrastructure, and you know how to test them thoroughly\nYou've used Terraform to build cloud based environments, or private cloud services\nDocker and orchestration environments such as Kubernetes / OpenShift exposure\nOR\nIf you've been more involved in the operational side of things, we like to see something like the following:\nYou have a through understanding of how the infrastructure is managed and provisioned in virtualized environments such as VMWare\nYou've used configuration management tools like Ansible / Puppet / Chef in anger and have a thorough understanding of their test frameworks\nIn depth experience of one or more of the cloud providers (AWS / Azure / GCP) and can automate infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM Templates etc. Certifications are nice, but hands on experience preferable.\nYou've been on the receiving side of poorly specified and tested software, had to make last minutes fixes and swore this was never going to happen again.
