MS SQL Senior Technical Lead

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SQL Lead Developer with strong expertise in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) and advanced Stored Procedure development to lead enterprise data engineering and integration initiatives.

The role involves designing and managing ETL pipelines, database solutions, and performance-optimized SQL systems, while leading a team and ensuring delivery of scalable, high-performance data solutions aligned with business and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. SQL Development & Stored Procedures

• Design, develop, and optimize complex stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views to support business logic and data processing
• Develop high-performance T-SQL queries and ensure optimal execution plans
• Implement indexing strategies, query optimization, and performance tuning
• Ensure database integrity, consistency, and security across environments

2. SSIS / ETL Development

• Design, develop, and maintain SSIS packages for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)
• Build scalable ETL frameworks to integrate data from multiple source systems to data warehouse / staging environments
• Implement data transformations, cleansing, and validation rules
• Debug and optimize SSIS packages for performance and reliability
• Manage deployment, scheduling, and monitoring of ETL jobs

3. Data Warehousing & Data Engineering

• Design and maintain data warehouse structures and data models
• Define source-to-target mappings and transformation logic
• Ensure efficient data pipelines supporting reporting, analytics, and BI
• Support integration of structured and semi-structured data sources

4. Technical Leadership

• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions
• Drive technical design discussions and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture

5. Performance Tuning & Optimization

• Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks
• Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and ETL pipelines
• Monitor database health and implement tuning strategies
• Improve system scalability, throughput, and response times

6. Production Support & Troubleshooting

• Handle production issues, ETL failures, and data inconsistencies
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes
• Support system releases and ensure smooth deployments
• Maintain SLAs for data processing and availability

7. Governance & Documentation

• Maintain documentation for:
• Database schemas
• ETL processes
• Data mappings and transformations
• Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance policies
• Implement audit controls and logging mechanisms

Skill Requirements

Primary Skills (Must-Have)

• Strong expertise in SQL Server (T-SQL)
• Advanced experience with:
• Stored Procedures
• Functions, Views, Triggers
• Hands-on expertise in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
• Deep understanding of ETL processes and data integration
• Strong experience in query tuning and performance optimization

Secondary Skills (Important Add-ons)

Data & BI Ecosystem

• Experience with:
• SSRS (Reporting Services)
• SSAS (Analysis Services)
• Exposure to Power BI / Tableau for reporting

Data Engineering & Architecture

• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts (star schema, dimensional modeling)
• Experience with data migration and data integration across systems
• Exposure to big data or cloud data platforms (Azure/GCP/AWS)

Programming & Scripting

• Experience with Python / PowerShell / .NET (optional but preferred)
• Understanding of SSIS scripting (C# / VB Script tasks)

Tools & DevOps

• Version control systems (Git, TFS)
• CI/CD exposure for database deployments
• Experience with job schedulers and automation tools

Database Management

• Knowledge of:

• 8-12+ years of experience in SQL Development / Data Engineering
