Automation Engineer

Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) - Enterprise Computing (EC) - Data & Analytics Technology (DAT)

Data & Analytics Technology (DAT) delivers the platforms that power data engineering, analytics and business intelligence across the firm.

We are seeking an Automation Engineer to build and expand enterprise-scale automated patching capabilities across a diverse portfolio of platforms. The role focuses on developing a common autopatching framework, integrating vendor products, and partnering with engineering teams to automate upgrades, reboots and lifecycle operations at scale.

The Role Involves

• Building a centralized autopatching platform used across DAT products and services.
• Developing automation for patch deployment, upgrade orchestration, validation and recovery.
• Designing and implementing automated reboot workflows, including dependency handling, health checks and post-restart verification.
• Integrating vendor and internally developed products into the autopatching ecosystem.
• Partnering with engineering teams to develop product-specific upgrade and reboot automation.
• Driving improvements in patch compliance, operational efficiency and platform resiliency.

Skills Required

• Proven track record delivering modern automation solutions in large-scale production environments.
• Strong Python and Unix/Linux scripting skills.
• Experience automating software deployment, patching, upgrades or infrastructure operations.
• Strong organizational, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with Git or similar revision control systems.
• Ability to quickly understand and extend existing ksh, Perl and Python-based tooling.

Skills Desired

• Experience building automation platforms or shared engineering services.
• Familiarity with enterprise data platforms and related technologies.
• Knowledge of Ansible, Terraform or similar automation technologies.
• Understanding of Linux, CI/CD, SDLC and DevOps practices.
