The incumbent built an advanced metadata framework, so architecture, pipeline-stack design, deployment, and pipeline experience are relevant; visualization experience with Power BI and Fabric Data Agents is also useful.\nThe Senior Data Engineer will design and deliver scalable data products, lead a small team of engineers, and own the technical roadmap and delivery for assigned platform domains. This role partners with Services, Governance, and senior stakeholders to translate business needs into robust, governed data solutions.\nThis role combines hands on data engineering with team leadership and delivery ownership. The Senior Data Engineer will own the technical roadmap for key data products, coordinate cross functional delivery, and represent the data platform in senior stakeholder forums.\nThe ideal candidate will have extensive experience with cloud data platforms and will mentor junior engineers to help them learn best practices and develop their technical skills. A strong background in data engineering is essential, with expertise in PySpark, SQL and the Medallion architecture. With a diverse client base ranging from small enterprises to large corporations, you will have the opportunity to engage in varied job activities and expand your professional network both nationally and internationally.\nKey Responsibilities\nPeople Leadership and Team Development\n·Support the Engineering Manager by taking the lead on L&D of the engineering team, managing the task loads of junior engineers to provide data product outcomes\n·Line manage and grow a small team of data engineers; set objectives, conduct performance reviews, and support career development.\n·Coach and mentor engineers across multiple squads; run regular technical training and hiring interviews.\nDelivery and Program Ownership\n·Own end-to-end delivery for assigned data products, including roadmap planning, prioritisation, and release governance.\n·Coordinate cross-team delivery (data engineering, services, and platform) to ensure timely, high-quality releases.\nStakeholder Management\n·Act as the primary technical liaison to services, governance, and senior stakeholders; present roadmap updates and risk mitigation plans.\nArchitecture, Standards and Governance\n·Define and enforce data platform architecture standards, best practices, and operational SLAs; attend and contribute to review boards for assigned domains.\n·Provide the mechanism to allow the governance team to ensure compliance with GDPR, internal policies, maintain data lineage, observability standards and acting on their findings to produce desired/required outcomes.\nBudget and Resource Planning\n·Contribute to resource planning and budget proposals for the data platform; track spend and recommend optimisations.\nSkill Requirements\nLeadership and people management: Proven experience managing engineers or technical teams; strong coaching and hiring experience.\nDelivery and stakeholder management: Experience owning product roadmaps and coordinating cross-functional delivery;
