solutions, owning technical quality for the team: translating requirements into robust designs, guiding engineers day to day, and ensuring predictable, secure and maintainable delivery into production.\nKey Responsibilities\n\nTechnical Design & Delivery\nOwn detailed design for mainframe components, interfaces and enhancements within the agreed architecture.\nBreak down requirements into technical tasks, estimates, sequencing and clear acceptance criteria.\nDeliver hands-on development for complex or high-risk components alongside the team.\nEnsure designs meet performance, security, reliability and maintainability expectations.\nTeam Leadership\nGuide a team of developers on design decisions, coding standards and technical approach.\nRun code reviews, design walkthroughs, defect triage and technical knowledge sharing.\nMentor engineers, support onboarding and build depth across the mainframe skill set.\n\nQuality & Operations\nDefine and enforce unit, integration and regression testing expectations for the team.\nOwn build, release and deployment readiness including rollback and verification steps.\nDrive defect prevention, root-cause analysis and permanent fixes over workarounds.\nCollaboration & Governance\nWork with architects, business analysts, QA, DevOps and support teams across the delivery lifecycle.\nParticipate in agile ceremonies, planning, estimation and dependency management.\nMaintain technical documentation, standards and reusable assets for the team.\n\nTechnology Focus - Mainframe\nKey Responsibilities\nTechnology Focus - Mainframe\n\nDesign, develop and support COBOL/CICS/DB2 batch and online components within agreed standards.\nOptimize batch windows, DB2 access paths and resource consumption to protect service levels.\n\nSupport mainframe modernization, API exposure and integration with distributed and cloud platforms.\n\nRequired Technical Competencies\n\nCore Skills\n\nCOBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, DB2 and z/OS utilities; batch and online program design and optimization.\n\nDesign & Architecture\n\nMainframe application architecture, modularization, API enablement and modernization/coexistence patterns.\n\nData & Integration\n\nDB2 and VSAM data design, SQL tuning, file handling, data conversion, integrity and reconciliation.\n\nPlatform & DevOps\n\nz/OS operations, scheduling, change management, environment promotion and mainframe-to-distributed integration.\n\nQuality & Operations\n\nUnit and regression testing, batch cycle validation, performance and MIPS optimization, defect RCA.\n\nExperience & Qualifications\n10+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering with strong mainframe expertise.\nDemonstrated experience leading small to mid-sized technical teams through full delivery cycles.\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or IT, or equivalent experience.\nRelevant platform or cloud certifications advantageous, not mandatory.\nLeadership & Behavioural\nOwnership and accountability for team technical outcomes.\nPractical problem solving with a bias for clean, sustainable solutions.\nClear communication with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.\nCoaching mindset and collaborative working style.\n\nLocation-Specific Expectations\nWork from the Curitiba delivery location with local customer stakeholders and global teams.\nParticipate in on-site and virtual workshops, design reviews and governance forums.\nEffective communication in a multi-country model, with overlap into European and Indian working hours.\nKey Deliverables & Success Measures\nDetailed designs, estimates and technical plans agreed with architecture and delivery leads.\nHigh-quality, reviewed and tested code delivered to agreed timelines.\nStable releases with low defect leakage and effective production handover.\nImproved team capability, engineering consistency and reusable assets.\nTimely escalation and resolution of
