Job Summary
Role: Mainframe Software Engineer (Functional & Technical) Assignment Description: We are looking for a Mainframe Software Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to support a finance-critical application landscape. The application handles Priority 0 to Priority 1 incidents with direct impact on factory production. The consultant will play a key role in securing business continuity, supporting daily operations, and contributing to an upcoming modernization roadmap. As this role replaces a Business Analyst, the Software Engineer is expected to actively participate in functional analysis, including understanding business processes, gathering requirements, and reverse-engineering existing applications. Key Responsibilities -Maintain and enhance finance-critical mainframe applications -Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve Priority 0 / Priority 1 production issues -Perform functional analysis and translate business requirements into technical solutions -Reverse engineer existing applications to understand functionality and dependencies -Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and French-speaking end users -Contribute to modernization initiatives while ensuring stability and secure deliveries Required Skills & Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mainframe development and support Strong hands-on experience with: COBOL, JCL, VSAM ISPF, SDSF MQ, IMS DB/DC OPC/E (or equivalent scheduling tools) Solid knowledge of mainframe databases and data management systems: DL1 / IMS DB2 -Strong analytical skills and ability to work in complex, legacy environments -Proven ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders -Experience working on business-critical or finance-critical applications Desired / Meritorious Skills: -Prior involvement in application modernization programs -Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments -Ability to balance operational stability with transformation initiatives Language & Location Requirements: Fluent in French & English - daily interaction with team and business users -English proficiency required for documentation and global collaboration Location: France - preferably Lyon Team is based in France; on-site
