Technical Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled backend developer to join our dynamic team at a leading financial institution. The developer shall be part of the global CoE Software Solutions team within GPS IT based in India.

The developer shall work with team members based in both Zurich, Singapore and India to help maintain the current trading platform and improve and create new libraries and frameworks upon which our trading platform is based. Working in an agile environment and interacting with traders, business owners and other stakeholders, the developer shall capture new requirements, design innovative solutions, and implement them. As part of the global team and working on global applications, the developer shall also provide first class support to the business and other stakeholders when called on.

The developer shall have a strong background in backend development, with deep expertise in C#. The developer shall be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing our financial platforms and applications, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability. The developer shall ensure active risk management and meet all regulatory and internal compliance expectations relating to the role. As we are currently containerizing our applications for cloud-based development, the developer shall be familiar with Azure-based solution development (other cloud-based solutions are equally valid).

Ideally, the developer shall have additionally a good knowledge of frontend development, specifically using JavaScript and React.

• Actively participate and support Program Increment (PI) planning process within GPS.
• Support change management and release rollout planning.
• Provide dedicated post implementation support locally in Asia.

• Demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Design and Development

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement high-quality software solutions for our financial products and services.

Backend Development

• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using C#. Optimize server-side performance and ensure data integrity and security.
• Contribute to containerizing our applications for cloud-based development.

System Integration

• Work on integrating various financial systems and third-party services, ensuring smooth data flow and interoperability.

Code Quality and Best Practices

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to industry best practices, including code reviews, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).

Troubleshooting and Support

• Diagnose and resolve technical issues across the stack, providing support for both development and production environments.

Frontend Development (desirable)

• Able to collaborate to build responsive and user-friendly interfaces using React/JS.

Professional and Technical

• Relevant higher educational and professional background with 10+ years of experience in software development of which 5+ as a backend developer.
• Profound hands-on C#.
• Good knowledge of Mongo DB and MS SQL.
• Good knowledge of RabbitMQ, gRPC and GraphQL.
• Good code review skills, and pride in code quality.
• Team player.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
• Ability to work in an agile environment.
• Willing to work in a global team that has members in Switzerland, Singapore and India.

Other Requirements

Additional desirable requirements

• Work experience in the financial industry.
• Good hands-on JavaScript/TypeScript programming skills.
• Good knowledge of current JavaScript frameworks (ReactJS) and technologies (Typescript).
• Familiarity with GraphQL.
• Familiarity with frontend build tools and package managers (e.g., Webpack, NPM).
• Familiarity with cloud-based development, ideally in application containerization as well as Azure Application services.
