The mission is to support projects with technical capabilities under the renewed model.\nThe Technical Consultant is expected to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) covering the application of telecommunications and network technology deployed across the Shell Group. This covers all Shell’s businesses, all Shell’s location (offices, onshore plants, offshore plants, offices, trading floors, etc) and various types of projects including capital projects and IT projects.\nThe purpose of the Technical Consultant role is to participate in larger project or lead smaller projects and deliver the network elements in the project. The Technical Consultant will be the key person in the project for all telecom and network elements.\nThe key Accountabilities are:\n1. Lead small network projects or lead network scope in larger projects.\n2. Collect all network and telecom requirements\n3. Work with design team to produce design meeting requirements based on Shell standards\n4. Develop deployment strategy and lead deployment including handover to operations by coordinating activities across suppliers, internal IT teams and business stakeholders\n5. Knowledge sharing and drive continuous improvement across the community\n\n* Requirements\n\nAccountabilities:\nFor the services in scope:\nProject leading -Technical Consultant may work small project (single technology) or larger (cross-technology) integrated projects with accountabilities for:Providing PMs input for creating project charters with defined project scope, deliverables, milestones, required budget and governance.\nManage agreed deliverables against the agreed charter, or approved changes through the applicable project/program governance. \n\nCollect and document requirements by specifying the needed functionality, all the non-functional requirements and all dependencies (e.g. cabling, construction or electrical work needed)\nGet a Shell standards-based design produced and signed off with the design team and design assurance team.\nWork via design office with architecture & portfolio to update standards in specific cases\nDevelop a deployment and testing strategy which is aligned with business readiness and IT delivery timelines\nLead the deployment by orchestrating all activities across multiple teams, consisting off: central IT delivery, local installation, local testing and business stakeholders\nHandover the deployed or changed services to operations\nShare knowledge obtained and learn from others as part of a natural team across architecture, portfolio, design, network engineers, technical consultants and operations and service management, amongst others.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nPeople Dimensions:\nNumber of direct report: 0\nNumber of indirect reports: 1-3 project resources plus any subcontractors delivering project resources.\nFinancial Dimensions:\nDirectly managed budget: < $ 0\nBusiness Dimensions:\nThe position supports Shell projects at various locations ranging from offices to remote environments.\nDirectly controls or indirectly influences: Network projects with value up to $1MNo direct reports but has responsibility to provide oversight of contract staff engaged to support project delivery.\n\nSpecial Challenges\nManage complex interface structures across organizational and geographic boundaries.\nAbility to collaborate with project teams, telecom contractors / service providers (ISP), the Major Execution Contractors (FEED, EPC, EPCM, TSI etc.) and other contractors\n\nSkill Requirements\nQualifications\nTechnical MANDATORY:\nTypical Years of Experience: 12-16 - leading and executing Telecoms project delivery, Telecoms operations, or IT consultancy assignments to design, develop and deliver viable network and telecom solutions, preferably in Oil and Gas or similar industry with offshore experience preferred.. \nA high degree of technical network knowledge on traditional (IP) networks and systems as well as telecom solutions such as Satellite, Optical/Radio links, Wireless Canopy, Mobile Radio (DMR/Tetra), Microwave, Fiber Optics, Marine and Aeronautical Radio, Sub-marine Fiber and Access Security/CCTV\nMinimum Education or Certification: Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent work experience \nSkills MANDATORY:\nMastering the OSI Model, TCP/IP protocol suite (IP, ARP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, SMTP, FTP, TFTP)\nMastering of Layer-2 Switching, VLAN’s and Access-list\nMastering WiFi, authentication, security technologies, Internet, SDWAN, MPLS and Voice over IP (VoIP)\nMastering IP addressing and subnetting and routing concepts\nSwitches: Full configuration and VLAN setup on Cisco switches\nRouter: Full configuration and monitoring of Cisco routers including VLAN’s\nTelecoms Industry knowledge with extensive experience in Networks and Telecommunications, Testing and Commissioning\nKnowledge of environmental and electrical safety in hazardous (IEC EX) that impact design of telecoms systems used in process plants;
