The incumbent's scope of work includes the installation, demonstration, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and facilities. This is a hands-on role which will have the Teaching Assistant working closely with faculty and students in the laboratory. The incumbent sets up the lab in preparation for experiments and will include up to 10 hours per week of instructional duties.\nACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS\nA Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or other relevant discipline is required\nA Master's Degree in a relevant discipline is desirable\nMembership to a relevant internationally recognized professional association is highly desirable\nCurrent advanced industry certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, Security/Networking, Server and/or Hardware are preferred\nSKILLS AND EXPERIENCE\nPreference is given to candidate with at least 3 years of progressive hands-on experience in hardware and software support\nAbility to understand the queries of customers and direct them to the appropriate resource\nPractical experience with PC and OS support troubleshooting and implementation\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills\nExperience in a complex networking environment with CISCO equipment is preferred\nA high degree of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology in the workplace\nStrong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization\nGood customer service and organizational skills\nThe ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment\nThe ability to cope with pressure in a positive manner while working to deadlines within a busy and demanding environment\nA demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities in order to improve current skills and acquire new skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization\nPrevious teaching assistant experience is preferred\nLANGUAGE\nFluency in written and spoken English is essential\nKnowledge of Arabic is desirable but not a requirement\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nProvides timely lab support to faculty, staff and students\nMaintains a schedule of preventative maintenance for all equipment and keeps adequate manuals and maintenance logs for equipment and parts\nObserves and reinforces safety and housekeeping procedures and protocol within the lab\nMaintains systems and procedures to track borrowed equipment and tools\nRecommends solutions to continuously improve lab operations\nControls the distribution of consumable materials and ensures adequate inventory levels for supplies within the lab\nMay assemble new or modified equipment such as servers, workstations, routers, switches and systems\nReceives, installs, maintains and assists with ordering of lab equipment and supplies\nInteracts regularly with suppliers regarding the purchases of new equipment\nDemonstrates the use of equipment within the lab\nProvides teaching assistance to CIS Faculty during laboratory sessions\nAssists in the development and maintenance of teaching materials\nSupports faculty and students in the design, planning and execution of student projects as required\nPerforms teaching duties as required\nContributes to the development of the HCT by observing and implementing College and system-wide policies and procedures, and by participating in extra-curricular activities and community events\nDevelops an awareness of and respect for the customs and cultures of HCT students and employees\nTravels to other HCT colleges to attend meetings,
