Here’s 7 Things You Need to Know.\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in nutrition, food studies, culinary arts, public health, community health, or a related health & wellness field\nWho You Are\nExperience implementing hands-on nutrition education and cooking activities in school-based, after-school, camp, and/or community-based settings\nProficient in nutrition concepts and cooking skills\nExcellent classroom management and presentation skills\nComfortable working in various urban settings and with diverse populations\nTeam-oriented with strong organizational and collaborative skills\nAnimated, energetic spirit and a positive, resilient attitude\nAdapts well to changes in assignments and priorities with the ability to respond effectively to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles\nWhat You’ll do\nConduct curriculum-based nutrition education classes/workshops for students, in grades Pre-K through 12th grade \nFacilitate cooking lessons to teach students healthy recipes, cooking techniques, kitchen tools and equipment, and safety\nMaintain a positive classroom environment conducive to learning, creativity, safety, and fun\nFor those working with students in Pre-K - grade 2, incorporate songs, puppet shows, arts and crafts, and a variety of creative approaches to teach healthy eating\nAdvocate healthier eating for students, families, and staff\nProvide clear classroom instructions, including learning objectives and transitions\nProvide consistent motivation, enthusiasm, and role modeling for healthy lifestyle choices\nSupport the site-based Healthy Harlem team in implementing program components related to health education and physical activity\nDocument student activities, participation, and services provided\nGather measurements for height, weight, and the PACER fitness test\nAttend in-house professional development trainings\nSchedule\nFall & Spring:\nMonday-Friday, between 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM (exact hours determined by site location).\nSummer: Monday-Friday, between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM (exact hours determined by program needs).\nCommitment Requirements:\nAfter-school programming: Minimum of 20 hours per week, with at least 4 hours per day.\nSummer programming: Expect to work 40 hours per week.\nPlease note that the schedule is fixed, and consistent attendance is required. You must be available to work five days per week, and we are unable to offer scheduling accommodations.
