Our employee-owners collaborate across specialties, combining creativity, precision, and deep expertise to solve the most complex challenges facing our clients and communities.\nIn the role of Accounting Manager, we'll count on you to:\nAdvise management on financial performance of the Northern CA Water Business Group and projects. Analyze and explain the underlying reasons and implications for current financial results, metrics, KPI’s, and trends with Area Leadership.\n\nPartner with Business Group Manager and Business Development Manager to analyze and support the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting processes including ad hoc analysis and reporting.\n\nSupervise, mentor and train Project Accountants and Accounting Leads specific to area accounting and project accounting obligations.\n\nPerform specialized accounting functions and establish internal controls for accounting procedures and practices in accordance with company policies, accounting procedures and contractual obligations.\n\nReview and analyze financial statements, forecasts and revenue recognition; participate in monthly project reviews and revenue recognition meetings.\n\nResponsible for audit compliance with contractual, financial and accounting requirements, which may include invoicing and reporting format, cost accounting, and financial quality control.\n\nMake staffing recommendations to management and participate in hiring/training.\n\nLead project accountants in working with project managers in reviewing project costs and proactively managing project budgets.\n\nSupport Project Managers with monitoring project budgets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other related financial information for projects and groups of projects; ensure contracts, amendments, and cost budgets are updated in our financial system accurately and in a timely manner; communicate and correspond with clients with respect to invoicing and project reporting as needed.\n\nHands on project cost accounting required in order to support workflow management of the Water Business Group's accounting team.\n\nAnalyze project cost system, research, and correct accounting related problems or issues as they arise.\n\nPerform other duties as needed.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor's Degree in Accounting\n\nMinimum of 8 years of experience required. 15 or more years of experience preferred; an advanced degree may offset years of experience\n\nLeadership and management skills necessary to effectively orchestrate accounting support activities for a variety of operational driven processes and initiatives.\n\nSolid understanding of accounting principles is a must, preferably with project accounting experience in Architectural/Engineering industry.\n\nPresent a demeanor, approach and attitude that focuses on customer service, creates a respectful and effective work environment and a commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture.\n\nProfessional maturity and the ability to comfortably communicate and collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization and appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.\n\nThis is an in-office position.\n\nBenefits: Employee Stock Ownership, Medical insurance, Dental insurance, Vision insurance, 401(k), Paid time off (PTO), Paid holidays, Paid parental leave, Life insurance, Disability insurance.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience \nA minimum of 5 years of experience; an advanced degree may offset years of experience \nProficiency with MS Office including Word and Outlook \nExcellent verbal and written communication including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling and telephone skills \nFlexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and collaborate with various managers in a fast-paced environment \nSelf-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented \nAbility to handle confidential information \nAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must \nWhat We Believe\nHDR is our company.
