Our employee-owners collaborate across specialties, combining creativity, precision, and deep expertise to solve the most complex challenges facing our clients and communities.\nIn the role of Area Safety Manager, we'll count on you to:\nDemonstrate proficiency in preparing, reviewing, and supporting implementation of site-specific safety plans consistent with HDR’s corporate Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) program and in assisting project managers and field teams with the development and review of Job Hazard Analysis.\n\nTrain and assist project managers on subconsultant safety requirements and provide a review of their plans and documentation.\n\nSupport project development teams in reviewing pursuits in order to identify, plan for, and mitigate SH&E related risk.\n\nUnderstand company requirements for safety program implementation and educate and support local safety coordinators in meeting these requirements.\n\nDemonstrate proficiency in SH&E auditing, inspection, and incident investigation protocols in field and office settings.\n\nBe capable of facilitating and delivering SH&E training, including but not limited to permit-required confined spaces, control of hazardous energy, fall protection, and first aid/CPR.\n\nDisplay working knowledge of applicable US Federal (i.e., EPA, OSHA, DoD) and/or state rules and regulations, as well as industry consensus standards.\n\nSupport area leadership team in strengthening SH&E culture initiatives.\n\nFrequently report leading and lagging safety performance indicator metrics to area operations and business group management.\n\nOffice in St. Louis Park, Minnesota and travel regularly within the assigned geographic area to support projects, field teams, and office locations. Up to 25% travel expected.\n\nPerform other duties as needed.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrevious SH&E work experience in construction, mining/tunneling, water infrastructure, DOT, Oil and Gas, and/or AEC firm.\n\nStrong competency in hazard recognition and control for confined spaces, fall protection, excavation and trenching, electrical hazards, and other high-risk tasks and activities.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nA minimum of 3 years technical experience or educational equivalent (minimum of associate degree) in occupational health/safety related field \nExtensive knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint \nKnowledge of OSHA & ANSI regulatory standards \nAbility to instruct and facilitate Safety, Health and Environmental training courses \nTeam-oriented with exceptional written and oral skills in support of company SH&E requirements \nAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must \nWhat We Believe\nHDR is our company.
