You will have the opportunity to apply your technical, project leadership and client-facing experience on complex, multidisciplinary building projects, including data centres, and mission critical facilities.\nWhether you're already operating at Senior Associate level or looking to step into broader leadership responsibilities, this role offers the opportunity to influence technical outcomes, mentor emerging engineers and contribute to a growing practice.\nWhat You'll Be Doing\nIn this role you will:\nLead and contribute to the mechanical design and delivery of complex building projects, acting as a trusted technical advisor and key client contact.\nProvide technical leadership, design oversight and quality assurance through all project phases, from concept design through to construction. \nDevelop practical, buildable and energy-efficient mechanical solutions that meet client, project and regulatory requirements.\nLead the resolution of complex issues relating to HVAC design, building performance, sustainability and system integration. \nDrive successful multidisciplinary project outcomes through effective collaboration with architects, engineers, contractors and other project stakeholders. \nSupport and grow relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.\nContribute to business development activities, including proposals, presentations and client engagement opportunities.\nContribute to the continued development of HDR’s mechanical engineering capability, technical standards and quality processes. \nSupport the development of engineers through mentoring, coaching and knowledge sharing.\nTake on project leadership responsibilities appropriate to your experience and development goals.\nWhat Makes This Role Different?\nThis is more than a traditional mechanical design role.\nYou'll have the opportunity to lead the mechanical design and delivery of some of Australia's most complex building projects, including data centres, mission critical facilities and other complex building developments across a range of sectors.\nWorking alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects and specialists, you'll influence project strategy, technical outcomes and client relationships from concept through completion.\nSupported by HDR's global network of technical experts, you'll have access to international best practice and the opportunity to work on projects at the forefront of building design, sustainability and high-performance infrastructure.\nThis role offers opportunities to further develop project leadership, client engagement and technical leadership skills while working alongside experienced leaders across HDR's national and global network.\nWhat You'll Bring\nWe're looking for someone who is:\nAn experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys leading projects, mentoring others and influencing technical outcomes.\nPassionate about technical excellence, high-performance buildings and sustainable engineering solutions. \nA confident communicator who builds trusted relationships with clients and colleagues. \nCommercially aware, with an understanding of project delivery and client outcomes.\nCollaborative and able to bring multidisciplinary project teams together. \nInterested in supporting and developing emerging engineers.\nProactive, growth-oriented and interested in contributing to the continued development of HDR’s Brisbane practice. \nComfortable balancing technical leadership with project, client and commercial responsibilities.\nIdeally, You'll Have\nA degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering. \nChartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or equivalent recognised professional accreditation. \nSignificant experience in building services mechanical engineering within a consulting environment.\nExperience leading or playing a key role in the delivery of complex multidisciplinary building projects.\nDemonstrated experience in HVAC design, building services systems, building performance, energy efficiency and sustainable engineering solutions. \nStrong knowledge of relevant Australian codes, standards and regulatory requirements. \nExperience leading multidisciplinary coordination and BIM-enabled project delivery. \nExperience managing project scope, programme, budget, resources, quality and technical risk. \nStrong commercial awareness, including experience with fee proposals, project forecasting and delivery performance. \nExperience supporting client relationships and contributing to business development activities.\nExperience mentoring, coaching or supporting the professional development of others.\nWhy Join HDR?\nEmployee ownership model -
