Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.\nWorking directly under the guidance of the Area Solid Waste Section Manager, the Civil Engineer in Solid Waste/Environmental supports the execution of solid waste engineering projects and contributes to the growth and success of the Area's solid waste practice. The position serves as a project engineer responsible for delivering high-quality engineering solutions for public and private sector clients. Responsibilities include planning, design, permitting, and construction support for municipal solid waste landfills, landfill expansions and closures, transfer stations, material recovery facilities, leachate management systems, landfill gas systems, and related solid waste infrastructure.\nIn the role of Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to:\nProject Delivery and Technical Execution\nLead and support the planning, design, permitting, and construction support of solid waste facilities and infrastructure projects.\nServe as project engineer for landfill, transfer station, material recovery facility, and related solid waste projects.\nPrepare engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, specifications, permit applications, and cost estimates.\nManage assigned project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.\nSupport technical reviews and quality assurance efforts to ensure project deliverables meet company and client standards.\nProvide construction-phase services, including contractor coordination, submittal reviews, RFI responses, construction observation, and construction quality assurance activities.\nPlanning and Consulting Services\n\nSupport solid waste master planning, facility planning, feasibility studies, and capital improvement planning efforts.\nEvaluate operational, regulatory, and infrastructure needs and develop practical engineering solutions.\nCoordinate with regulatory agencies and support permitting and compliance activities.\nAssist clients with long-term planning and implementation strategies for solid waste infrastructure and operations.\nClient Service and Business Development Support\n\nDevelop and maintain effective working relationships with municipal, private-sector, and industrial clients.\nServe as a day-to-day client contact for assigned projects.\nSupport proposal preparation, scope development, fee estimates, and project pursuits.\nParticipate in client meetings, presentations, and industry events.\nIdentify opportunities for additional services and support the continued growth of client relationships.\nTeam Collaboration and Development\n\nCollaborate with engineers, designers, drafters, scientists, and project managers to deliver successful projects.\nProvide guidance and support to EITs, designers, and technical staff as appropriate based on experience and expertise.\nContribute to a collaborative team environment focused on technical excellence, professional growth, and client service.\nSupport the Area Solid Waste Section Manager in achieving project and practice goals.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects and coordinating with clients, regulators, contractors, and stakeholders.\n\nExperience preparing proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates.\nExperience serving as Engineer of Record for engineering design projects.\nWorking knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software, and other engineering design tools commonly used in solid waste facility design.\nExisting relationships with municipal agencies, solid waste authorities, private waste management firms, and industry organizations.\nParticipation in professional organizations such as SWANA, ASCE, or similar industry associations.\nInterest in developing project management, client management, and business development skills.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree\nPrevious experience in general civil engineering\nRequires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
