This isn’t just a job, it’s a chance to drive meaningful change and help define the future of our communities.\nIn the role of Design Technician in our Toronto Studio we would look to you for technical experience on a variety of project types. The successful candidate must possess the drive, experience, and team spirit needed to help create great projects.\nResponsibilities Include:\nMaintain a culture of client-focused project delivery through high technical competency.\nIndependently coordinate the work of a multidiscipline team through all phases of projects.\nBe involved in multiple projects at any one time.\nActively participate as a member of our in-office studio, mentor junior intern architects, technologist within the team.\nOrganize and participate in construction documentation i.e., leading-building envelope design, interior details, coordination with different disciplines\nCollaborate with project design teams to facilitate project execution through highly skilled detailing.\nLeading coordination efforts with outside and internal engineering consultants.\nPerforming QA/QC and implement project milestone QA/QC reviews, technical reviews across projects.\nHave a comprehensive understanding of Architectural specifications in contract documents and coordinate with specification writers.\nBe well-versed in implementation and application of OBC.\n*Project types include Transportation Architecture, Healthcare, Science, and Data Centre projects.\nSelection Process: Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a Revit skills assessment to demonstrate their proficiency with Revit software and related design tasks. Accommodations will be made available upon request.\nPreferred Qualifications\nA minimum of 8-10 years related experience\n\nPrevious experience with an Architectural Consulting firm.\n\nMust have experience on both small and large-scale projects\n\nExperience and/or interest in sustainable design / LEED / WELL\n\nStrong computer skills using AutoCAD, Revit 3D Modeling and Microsoft Office\n\nMust have experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications\n\nAbility to work independently and meet deadlines, with minimal management oversight.\n\nCommitted to being a team player who is willing to learn, expand their skillset and be versatile in tasks.\n\nProficiency in French an asset but not required.\n\nProfessional, self-motivated, well-organized, and detail-oriented with the flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.\n\nAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.\n\nAccredited Architectural Technologist; those who are not accredited will be titled “Design Technician 2\"\n\nRequired Qualifications\nTechnical degree or a minimum of 3 years related industry experience \nTechnically qualified with 3D design software and document management infrastructure \nCompetency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools \nExperience with 3D Coordination tools \nExcellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits are essential \nIntermediate understanding of engineering or architectural concepts\nWhat We Believe\nHDR is our company.
