Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.\nIn the role of Environmental Scientist II, we'll count on you to\nAbility to lead wetland and stream delineations and functional assessments, vegetation surveys, wildlife habitat surveys, and other field activities in urban and remote settings. \nCollect project-related data, which may include research, field investigations for wetlands and waters, ability to complete aquatic and terrestrial habitat assessment, map reviews, land use, etc.\n\nIndependently prepare written environmental reports including wetland and stream delineation reports, critical areas reports, floodplain habitat assessments, shoreline site assessments, monitoring reports, and assist in developing mitigation options, plans and documents to address project impacts.\nPrepare documentation to support critical areas regulations, Endangered Species Act consultation, Clean Water Act Section 404 and 401 Permitting, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Section 10, SEPA/NEPA compliance, WDFW Hydraulic Project Approvals, local Shoreline Permits, Local Land Use Permits or Variances, and other state/local permits.\nWork independently on small to medium-size projects, or assist more senior scientists on larger projects.\nPerform other related duties as needed\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with wetland delineations using Western Mountain Valleys Coast and Arid West delineation regional supplements to the Corps of Engineers wetland delineation manuals. \nDemonstrated familiarity with Federal and/or Washington state/local permits. \nAssist in defining the level of environmental analysis required.\nProfessional Wetland Scientist (PWS) or Wetland Professional in Training (WPIT) certification.\nExperience with GPS units, GIS software and webmaps, to support data collection, mapping, and reporting. \nValid Washington State Driver’s license and ability to travel locally on a regular basis to conduct field work. \nEffective conceptual, problem-solving and research abilities.\nStrong organization skills and ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with changing deadlines and priorities \nA demonstrated commitment to safety and quality and an attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture are essential. \nQualified WSDOT Biological Assessment Author.\nLocal candidates preferred.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field \n5 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents \nProficient with MS Office (Word, Excel) \nStrong environmental writing and communication skills \nStrong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities \nAbility to work independently and as part of a team \nAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must \nWhat We Believe\nHDR is our company.
