This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex mission critical and building services projects across Australia while developing your career within HDR's global network of commissioning professionals.\nThe Role\nAs a Commissioning Engineer - Electrical, you'll support the delivery of commissioning services across a diverse portfolio of projects, with a particular focus on mission critical facilities and data centres.\nWorking alongside experienced commissioning and technical design teams, you'll be involved in the planning, testing, validation and handover of critical electrical systems, helping ensure they perform safely, efficiently and reliably in accordance with client requirements and design intent.\nThis is a permanent position based in Sydney, supporting a growing portfolio of commissioning projects . The role provides an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to some of the country's most technically complex facilities while building your career within HDR's expanding Commissioning practice.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nYou will:\nSupport commissioning activities throughout construction, testing and handover phases.\nParticipate in Factory Witness Tests (FWTs), Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), site inspections and functional performance testing.\nReview commissioning plans, test procedures, technical submissions, energisation plans and project documentation.\nAssist with troubleshooting, issue resolution and verification of system performance.\nWork closely with contractors, consultants, vendors, facility operators and client teams.\nMaintain commissioning records, reporting and project documentation.\nSupport commissioning management activities including commissioning plans, test scripts and handover documentation.\nAssist in tracking commissioning issues, project risks and system readiness throughout the project lifecycle.\nEnter and maintain commissioning data within commissioning management software platforms.\nSupport preparation of commissioning reports for project teams and clients.\nAttend contractor, client and commissioning meetings and contribute to documentation and reporting outcomes.\nContribute to quality, safety and continuous improvement initiatives across the Commissioning team.\nWhat Makes This Role Different?\nWorking within a growing national commissioning team, you'll be exposed to technologies and systems that are rarely encountered in conventional building services projects, while being supported by HDR's global technical network.\nYou'll have the opportunity to develop expertise across:\nLow Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) power distribution systems\nTransformers, switchboards and protection systems\nUninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems\nStandby generators and fuel systems\nSCADA and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)\nBuilding Management Systems (BMS)\nCritical power infrastructure for data centres and mission critical facilities\nIntegrated systems testing and functional performance testing\nElectrical energisation and operational readiness processes\nMission critical reliability and resilience testing\nWhat You’ll Bring\nWe’re looking for someone who is:\nPassionate about engineering, commissioning and technical problem solving.\nEager to further develop their expertise within commissioning, building services and mission critical environments.\nInterested in working on some of Australia's most technically advanced data centre and critical infrastructure projects.Detail-oriented, organised and committed to quality outcomes.\n\nA strong communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with project teams.\nProactive and willing to take ownership of their work and professional development.\nSafety-focused with a continuous improvement mindset.\nIdeally, You’ll Have\nA degree, diploma, trade qualification or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline.\nDemonstrated experience in commissioning, construction, facilities engineering or building services.\nExposure to electrical building systems including LV and HV distribution systems, transformers, switchboards, UPS systems, generators, fuel systems, SCADA, EPMS and BMS platforms.\nExperience working on site-based projects.\nExposure to factory testing, equipment inspections, commissioning activities or building systems testing.\nExperience conducting Factory Witness Tests (FWTs) and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).\nStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nExposure to commissioning management processes, system testing and project delivery methodologies.\nStrong attention to detail and documentation quality.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment.\nExperience within data centres, healthcare projects or other critical environments will be highly regarded.\nFamiliarity with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and commissioning management platforms would be beneficial.\nAustralian Citizenship and the ability to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance will be advantageous.\nA willingness to travel to project sites as required.\nWhy Join HDR?\nEmployee ownership - be part of a company where our people have a direct stake in our success.\nMajor project exposure - work on complex data centre and digital infrastructure projects shaping the future of connected communities.\nCareer development - mentoring and support from experienced technical and project leaders\nCollaborative culture - work within a multidisciplinary team that values quality and innovation\nGlobal TMT expertise - collaborate with HDR's internationally recognised mission critical and data centre teams #LI-CG3\nWhat We Believe\nHDR is our company.
