Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.\nHDR is looking for a Data Center Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Denver, Colorado. Our team is looking for a candidate to meet the demands of our client base including Science and Technology, Mission Critical and Commercial projects. We are actively seeking candidates with experience within the mission critical environment. This individual should also have a desire to mentor and train younger mechanical engineers. The Data Center Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing projects from start to finish. This will include coordinating and working closely with clients, project managers, mechanical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing members, and all other team members. They will be responsible for developing feasibility reports, construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and performing RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation and overall construction administration. Passion, self-motivation, and strong leadership skills are a must to deliver technically excellent design solutions for our clients. Additional responsibilities include:\nPrimary Duties:\nMentoring/Managing:Help grow a team that works together to create a collaborative environment that promotes career growth, the production of high-quality construction documents, client satisfaction, and acts as a safety net for each other.\nCoordinate the work of Mechanical Engineers, EITs, and BIM Specialists with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project’s development.\nMentor, organize, and facilitate the growth of junior staff.\nCoordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule.\n\nTechnical:Assume a substantial role in mechanical design for data center/mission critical projects.Work with clients to understand their project specific requirements around reliability, growth increments, first cost versus life cycle costs, sustainability, construction schedules, and future flexibility.\n\nProviding detailed design and coordination with multidisciplinary team members\nAttend design meetings with other team members and lead mechanical discussions in the meetings.\nConduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines.\nParticipate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.\nDesign support during construction including field observations, submittal & shop drawing review, Request for Information (RFI) support.\n\nPerform other duties as needed.\nTravel: Some travel to job sites or other HDR offices could be required. This would be communicated in advance to give adequate coordination time with project work and personal life. \nPreferred Qualifications\nPrevious experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings\nTake ownership of assignments and work both independently and as part of a large project team.\nSuccessful completion of a minimum of 5 years of consulting engineering experience in the design of high reliability mechanical systems.\nPrevious Data Center/Mission Critical experience an architectural/engineering, or engineering consulting firm is desired.\nStrong desire to stay current with the trends of the fast-paced industry of mission critical.\nWorking knowledge of the following standards: Uptime Topology standards, ASHRAE TC 9.9, ASHRAE 90.4, and the ISO standards regarding PUE, CUE, and WUE.\nWorking knowledge of the following programs: Bluebeam Revu, AFT Fathom (or a similar piping analysis software), a HVAC loads program (IESVE Load Calculation Software knowledge preferred), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)\nGeneral knowledge of the inputs required for CFD modeling.\nWorking knowledge of Newforma Project Center and/or ProjectWise Document Management Software\nExcellent organizational and communication skills\nStrongly motivated and showing professional initiative.\nFocused on client outcomes.\nWorking knowledge of current industry codes and standards\nStrong organizational and time management skills to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously.\nTechnical and specification writing skills.\nNCEES Registration\nPreference given to local candidates\nProfessional Development\nActive participation in industry organizations is encouraged. Participation in professional development seminars, courses, workshops, or conferences is encouraged and should be approved in advance of attendance.\nAdditional industry certifications are also encouraged such as Uptime ATD.\nMaintain continuing education requirements for any certification or license.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering \nPrevious experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings \nRequires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
