Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.\nIn the role of Senior Bridge Engineer, we'll count on you to:\nServe in a lead technical role on bridge design projects\nServe as a technical specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects, and supervise more junior engineers in the performance of engineering tasks\nPerform complex structural planning, analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects, develop design options or recommendations with support calculations\nDevelop and coordinate plans, specifications and estimates for bridge and other transportation structure projects\nPerform quality control reviews of work products developed by junior engineers\nAssist in planning and management of all aspects of bridge inspection, design and rehabilitation projects\nLead and serve as Team Leader on bridge, tunnels and ancillary structure inspections for state and local agencies\nManage and review load rating computations for structures owned by state and local agencies\nPerform other duties as needed \nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster's degree in Structural Engineering\n\n8+ years of experience in design, inspection and/or load ratings of bridges, tunnels, culverts and ancillary highway structures.\nWorking knowledge of bridge and tunnel standards of transportation agencies in Maryland (such as MDOT SHA, MDTA, MTA and counties) and Virginia (such as VDOT).\nExtensive project experience with Maryland and Virginia transportation agencies.\nNHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges OR Bridge Inspection Refresher certification\nNHI Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges OR Bridge Inspection Techniques for NSTM certification\nFHWA/NHI Tunnel Safety Inspection certification\nExcellent organization skills\nMaintain a valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR)\nRead, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language\nAble to traverse a construction job site \nAble to wear required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working \nPreference given to candidates currently residing in the greater Baltimore area\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree \nA minimum of 10 years bridge design experience \nRequires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.\n\nProven hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects\nFamiliarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge. \nKnowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bentley OpenBridge Designer and OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.\nExperience using Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, Prestress Concrete Design\nDemonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams\nProject management skills desirable\nStrong communication skills and willing to work in a team environment\nMust be comfortable being viewed as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design and have proven background of technical leadership on these types of projects\nAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must\nWhat We Believe\nHDR is our company.
