This isn’t just a job, it’s a chance to drive infrastructure forward, power innovation and leave your mark on our energy future.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nThe primary duties of the Senior Substation Electrical Engineer include responsibility for knowledge and execution of the technical aspects and deliverables of projects assigned and is an experienced, competent engineer who generally understands and can complete all technical requirements of substation projects of moderate to high complexity.\nSpecific duties include:\n\nDevelops and reviews engineering deliverables, including studies, drawings, calculations, and specifications for complex substation projects.\nAssigns tasks and provides technical directions to junior and mid-level team members.\nPerforms quality control (QC) reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency across all deliverables.\nCollaborates with senior engineers to build specialized expertise and stay current with industry practices.\nContributes to technical papers and presentations showcasing HDR’s capabilities.\nMentors, trains, and supervises EITs and Designers as needed.\nSupports cross-team QC reviews to maintain company and client standards.\nPreferred Qualifications\nA minimum of 8 years of substation design experience required, both indoor and outdoor experience.\nExperience developing design specifications, studies, reports, and analysis related to substation design.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nPrevious consulting firm experience.\nExperience using electrical design software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or EasyPower, CDEGS, and WinIGS.\nExperience developing technical standards \nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Engineering\nA minimum of 10 years of experience\nRequires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.\n\nExtensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector\nProficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)\nAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture\nWhat We Believe\nHDR is our company.
