This isn’t just a job, it’s a chance to lead innovation, engineer impact, and build a legacy of excellence.\nIn the role of Senior Fire Protection Engineer, we'll count on you to:\nManage the fire protection portions of complex projects\nDesign and review fire protection systems (sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps, clean agent, pre-action/special hazard)\nPerform code analysis for fire and life safety against the local provincial Building Code and NFPA standards\nPrepare drawings, specifications, calculations, and hydraulic analyses\nIndependently evaluate, select and apply standard and advanced engineering techniques and procedures to make decisions on a broad range of fire protection issues\nTake responsibility for all aspects of the work, including drawings and specifications, meeting schedules and budgets, and directing assigned staff\nCoordinate with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines\nConduct site reviews, respond to RFIs, and review contractor shop drawings and submittals\nInterpret engineering data for designers and drafters\nCheck the drawings on a continuing basis to ensure accuracy and completeness, and promote the skills of designers and drafters\nMonitor the schedule and budgets for assigned projects\nReview and summarize applicable codes, and record them for inclusion in the design record\nThrough the Project Manager, establish contact with the client or appropriate representative to assure continuity and integrity of information received from the client\nVisit project sites as requested by the Construction Services Department or as contractually required\nCheck contract documents and shop drawings, and answer requests for information\nWrite the fire protection specifications \nSupport authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) interactions and permit submissions\nContribute to proposals and client communications\nMentor junior designers and EITs\nPreferred Qualifications\nA minimum of 5 years experience in Data Centre, semi-conductor, Healthcare, Science and Technology facilities\nExperience with special hazard systems (clean agent, water mist, VESDA/early warning detection)\nRevit/BIM coordination experience\nFamiliarity with FM Global requirements\nConstruction administration experience\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering\nA minimum of 10 years with experience in Fire Protection and Life Safety Design. This includes experience in: code review and interpretation, life safety, detection systems, suppression systems, and fire alarm systems \nRequires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
