This isn’t just a job, it’s a chance to drive infrastructure forward, power innovation and leave your mark on our energy future.\nHDR Engineering is currently seeking a Substation EIT/Designer to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a team that executes technical design on substation engineering projects ranging in scale from simple device replacements to large greenfield design projects. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a self-directed individual who is eager to learn and take on new challenges.\nThe primary duties of a Substation EIT/Designer include:\nPreparation of engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium and High Voltage) and substation systems under the direction and supervision of more senior engineers and designers.\n\nThe successful/ideal candidate will be seeking knowledge and experience in both the Protection and Control (Indoor) and Physical (Outdoor) aspects of High Voltage (HV) Substation design.\n\nWork under the direction of the Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s). \nPrepare calculations, design sketches and redline drawings. \nWork with Designers and CAD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements.\nTypical designs include one-line diagrams, protection and control schematic development, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding. \nOccasional short-term travel (typically 1-5 days) may be necessary. \nPreferred Qualifications\nEngineer in Training (EIT) certificate\nCandidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression\nLocal candidates preferred \nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Engineering\nComputer skills in Microsoft Office\nAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture\nWhat We Believe\nHDR is our company.
