Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.\nHDR Engineering is currently seeking a Substation Electrical EIT to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals in Western Canada.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nYou will have at least two years of substation design experience in protection and control (P&C) and/or physical design and are now ready to take on more complex assignments and responsibilities. As an integral part of a team, you will prepare engineering designs on substation projects ranging in scale from simple device replacements to large greenfield substation sites. You’ll be given the flexibility and freedom to seek and acquire knowledge and experience in all aspects of high voltage substation design. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a self-directed individual who is eager to learn and take on new challenges.\nWorking under the direction of Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s) your role will encompass the following:\nIn the role of Substation Electrical EIT, we'll count on you to:\nPreparation of engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for electrical substations (low, medium, and high voltage). \nWorking with Designers and CADD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements.\nDeveloping design deliverables including one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA schemes, communications plans, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding.\nPerforming site visits during the design, construction, and as-built phases of projects\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.\nMinimum of 2 years of Substation design experience in P&C or physical design. \nStrong written and confident verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work in a team environment.\nStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.\nSelf-motivated and ability to take initiative.\nExposure to general Civil Engineering experience a plus.\nPrior experience in both P&C and physical substation design considered a plus.\nExperience using AutoCAD and/or Microstation considered a plus.\nPrior experience consulting or working for an electric utility considered a plus.\nExperience using electrical design software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or EasyPower considered a plus.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Engineering\nEngineer In Training (EIT) certificate\nComputer skills in Microsoft Office\nAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture\nWhat We Believe\nHDR is our company.
