We are all employee-owners at HDR, which is the foundation of our collaborative culture that connects employees around the world.\nIn the role of Transportation Engineer, we'll count on you to:\nAct as a transportation engineer as needed, including preparing road alignments, cross-sections, active transportation design, grading models, drainage designs, storm sewer network layouts, quantity estimates, cost estimates, project documentation, and specifications \nCoordinate designs with the rest of the multidisciplinary team including structural, traffic, pavement, environmental, stormwater management, electrical, etc. \nAssist the Project manager in the day-to-day coordination of projects \nSupport engagement externally and negotiation with key project stakeholders and clients \nPrepare work plans and schedules in coordination with project managers and other disciplines \nAssist in pursuit of opportunities and preparation of proposals (content generation, schedule, and fee estimates)\nOur ideal candidate will have a passion for innovation, collaboration, new experiences, opportunities and exceeding client expectations. This position will be mentored by senior engineers, project managers and business leadership to help the candidate better understand industry best practices, trends, standards, and preferences and successful business practices. Our goal is to help our clients achieve high performance in safety, quality, cost efficiency and profitability for their capital projects and on-going operations.\nPreferred Qualifications\nA Minimum of 7 years’ experience in highway and/or municipal roadway design engineering\nFamiliarity with road design practices including application of design standards, TAC Geometric Design Guide, various provincial and municipal standards, and preparing contracts (documents and drawings)\nExperience engaging and negotiating with external project stakeholders and clients\nStrong conceptual, organizational, problem solving, and collaboration skills\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nExperience with municipal and provincial clients in Ontario (MTO, Halton Region, City of Mississauga, City of Brampton, City of Toronto, and York Region)\nExperience with Freeway and Interchange Design\nExperience with Municipal Design \nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree \nPrevious experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design \nRequires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.\n\nHands-on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d\nMS Office knowledge\nExcellent communication and organizational skills \nExperience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans \nAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must \nWhat We Believe\nHDR is our company.
