Architect complex mechatronic and AI-driven systems across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software domains. Create and maintain Theory of Operations documents defining how all subsystems interact. Define and manage system interface specifications, communication protocols, and system safety architecture. Lead development of data pipelines, GPU training environments, simulation frameworks, and digital asset curation for robotic AI systems. Direct system-level prototyping that integrates perception, planning, control, and real-time robotics operations. Ensure scalability, security, and reliability of AI-enabled robotic systems in fast-changing production environments. Work across mechanical, electrical, controls, vision, and software engineering to ensure all subsystems operate as a cohesive, unified system. Lead major design reviews, including FMEAs, system safety reviews, integration reviews, and readiness reviews. Partner with Product Management to create multi-year automation roadmaps and translate automation goals into system architecture. Lead system-level regulatory and safety compliance efforts including UL, CE, functional safety standards, and robot safety 13849/62061. Establish frameworks for system reliability, availability, maintainability (RAM), and quality metrics. Lead and grow a multidisciplinary team of robotics, AI systems, and mechatronics engineers. Mentor engineers beyond their individual disciplines to foster systems thinking. Champion innovation and continuous improvement across the robotics and systems engineering organization. Present strategy, program status, and technical issues to senior and executive leadership.
