The Senior Strategic Data Analyst understands the health insurance industry and their own department such that he/she can identify opportunities for the use of technology and analytics to improve efficiency within the department and across the organization. Additionally, the Senior Data Analyst plays an integral role in the pursuit of department initiatives by leveraging analytics to provide insights that support key decisions and successful outcomes.Leverage leading analytical tools to generate insights that facilitate key decisions by department Leadership\nDevelop repeatable analytics aimed at department and Executive Leadership that provide insights into the health and performance of the department.\nLeverage available data to develop preventative and detective controls to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of business processes\nContribute to the design and architecture of data models and dashboards used to retain and present key information to the business; Identify downstream impacts of changes and enhancements to current analyses, models, and algorithms\nAssist with development and execution of highly complex algorithms and statistical predictive models from large sets of data\nDetermine analytical approaches and modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes\nInference data to make recommendations and decisions\nDevelop repeatable ETL processes from source systems to analytics sandbox, ensuring integrity, completeness, and accuracy of data is maintained\nPerform statistical analysis to quantify the limitations of models\nDevelop and improve upon metrics that evaluate department performance\nThink critically about the business and how the work is performed. Identify opportunities to improve the status quo, inject data into the decision-making process, and support progress with facts\nServe as a trusted contact for internal department members or other departments. Work with the business to define methodologies that directly address their concerns; present results or deliverables to the business and provide support with confidence.\nAnalyze and reconcile premium revenue and remittance status, accounting for rate changes across all product lines. Support and report account receivables sub-ledger aging and collections.\nReview, analyze and create detailed documentation reports to support department processes\nAnticipate and solve strategic and high risk business problems with broad impact on the business area by investigating problems, detecting patterns and recommending solutions\nCommunicate new knowledge and insights gained from analysis of big data\nTransfer knowledge and concepts to the team that is implementing the actual system\nPartner with IT and business teams to solve problems, develop new algorithms and models, and identify trends and opportunities. Inform, influence, support, and execute business and product decisions.\nAdditional duties as assigned\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience\nProficiency of scripting and programming skills \nExperience using MS Office suite, including Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word\nExpertise in utilizing data analysis and query tools such as SQL\nExperience with Alteryx, Tableau, Amazon Redshift, or other similar tools/platforms\nExperience with applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.\nAbility to successfully run queries from a data warehouse\nExpertise innovating and implementing audit techniques\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMaster’s degree from an accredited institution\nDegree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Sciences, Engineering, Business Analytics, Informatics, or similar concentration\nExperience with analytical programming techniques such as Python and R\nExperience with AWS and analytical solutions available on the platform (Redshift, Glue, Sage Maker, etc.)\nExperience with data visualization tools such as Tableau\nFamiliarity with programming in JavaScript, D3.js\nFamiliarity with big data technologies, such as Hadoop, MapReduce, and AWS Kinesis\nExperience developing innovative solutions to complex problems\nAdvanced problem solving skills and the ability to make critical, independent decisions within area of responsibility\nExcellent communication skills\nExcellent time management and the ability to prioritize work and complete assignments within their allotted deadline\nExperience working with and communicating technical information to multiple levels of technical and non-technical staff in written and verbal form\nExperience prioritizing a heavy workload in a fast paced environment\nKnowledge of modern machine learning algorithms (clustering, classification and regression), statistical methods and optimization\nKnowledge of health care industry, products, systems, business strategies and products\nCompliance & Regulatory Responsibilities: NA\nLicense/Certification: NA\n\nWE ARE AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER.
