The Unit Supervisor will be under the direction of the Director of Foster Care.\nEssential Functions and Primary Responsibilities of Position:\nProvides coaching and support to staff to reinforce quality case practice. \nResponsible for completing and submitting staff evaluations; resolve and address staff issues; participate in hiring, disciplinary actions. \nProvides formal and informal supportive, programmatic and clinical supervision to each team member; holds formal individual supervision weekly and team meetings on a monthly basis.\nHolds staff accountable for strong performance.\nEnsures appropriate record-keeping including supervisory records.\nResponds to case emergencies (after hours when necessary).\nMust have excellent customer service skills.\nMust be able to collaborate across programs.\nEnsure the safety and well-being of children.\nWhen necessary, conduct home visits, school visits, and attend court hearings.\nAttend internal and external training and apply newly gained knowledge in providing service.\nParticipate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies to ensure 24/7 emergency coverage for families.\nMust uphold the agency Mission and Values at all times.\nReview all Progress Notes, Court Reports, correspondence and other documentation, ensuring quality and timely submission.\nResponsible for ensuring the timely and accurate submission of all forms and documents required by ACS and NYF. Ensures adherence to all city and state mandates, including documentation of necessary contacts by Case Planner. \nFacilitates family team conferences as a back-up. \nPerforms all other duties as assigned within scope of practice. \nQualifications\nMaster's degree required.\nExperience in child welfare/case management strongly preferred.\nMust have a minimum of two to five years of supervisory and/or managerial experience in a relevant field. \nFamiliarity with Administration for Children Services (ACS), Office of Children Family Services (OCFS), Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD), and other relevant municipal and state agencies preferred. \nMust maintain a broad knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and methodology of social work as acquired through professional experience.\nAbility to teach, train, and coach team members.\nAbility to work flexible hours - some evenings to support staff needs.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to work under stress or in a fast-paced environment.\nAbility to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality\nComputer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions; knowledge of Microsoft Word and Connection highly preferred. \nDriver’s license is preferred (Note: selected candidates will be required to complete a safety training course prior to use of an agency vehicle.
