The company is committed to supporting safe and efficient mining operations through effective ground control, geotechnical engineering, and risk management.\n\nJob Summary\n\nHeath Goldfields Ltd seeks an experienced and technically proficient Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide leadership in ground control, slope stability, and geotechnical risk management. The successful candidate will support safe and efficient open-pit mining operations by assessing ground conditions, monitoring slope performance, identifying geotechnical hazards, and recommending appropriate control measures.\n\nThe role requires strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with mine planning, operations, and geotechnical teams to maintain safe and stable mining conditions.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProvide geotechnical engineering support for pit walls, benches, ramps, waste dumps, and stockpiles.\n\nConduct geotechnical inspections, geological mapping, and rock mass assessments to identify potential hazards and ground instability.\n\nAnalyse slope stability and recommend appropriate ground control measures to support safe mining operations.\n\nManage and monitor geotechnical monitoring systems, including prisms, radar, and piezometers.\n\nInterpret geotechnical monitoring data to identify potential slope movements and emerging risks.\n\nPrepare technical reports, slope monitoring summaries, and geotechnical risk assessments.\n\nSupport blast design reviews and advise mining teams on the potential effects of blasting on slope stability.\n\nEnsure compliance with applicable mining safety standards and the Ground Control Management Plan.\n\nIdentify geotechnical risks and recommend practical measures to prevent ground instability and related incidents.\n\nCollaborate with mine planning and operations teams to integrate geotechnical considerations into mining activities.\n\nProvide technical guidance and coaching to junior geotechnical personnel.\n\nReview ground conditions and recommend improvements to ground control practices.\n\nCommunicate geotechnical findings, monitoring results, and risk management recommendations to relevant stakeholders.\n\nEducational Requirements\n\nBachelor’s degree or HND in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.\n\nQualifications and Experience\n\nFive to seven years of relevant experience in open-pit hard-rock mining.\n\nStrong knowledge of slope stability analysis, structural geology, rock mass characterization, and ground control.\n\nPractical experience with geotechnical inspections, mapping, monitoring, and risk assessment.\n\nExperience using geotechnical software such as Rocscience, Dips, RS2/RS3, Surpac, or Datamine.\n\nKnowledge of slope monitoring systems and mining safety standards.\n\nAbility to interpret geotechnical data and recommend effective ground control measures.\n\nExcellent analytical, technical reporting, communication, and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to collaborate effectively with mine planning, mining operations, and technical
