This position makes sure the right parts and materials are kitted, staged, and ready when maintenance needs them. The Materials Coordinator attends maintenance planning and review meetings, tracks work commitments and completions, and follows up with maintenance supervisors to reduce ordering errors and confirm that parts are installed when needed. The position also manages returns to inventory and to suppliers, supports inventory accuracy, and operates forklifts and other material handling equipment to move materials safely and efficiently.\nSafety, Health & Environmental Responsibilities AND Accountabilities:\nInclude, but are not limited to:\nAll Hecla personnel shall strive to achieve best practice in safety and health, and assist in the control of incidents, injuries and loss. Duties include, but are not limited to:\nComplying with all necessary requirements put in place to prevent incidents, injuries or losses\nEnsuring the safety and health of themselves and others in the workplace by being responsible for their actions and taking due care while performing their work\nIdentifying, eliminating, and reporting hazards as soon as practicable \nReporting incidents and accidents as soon as practicable\nDisclosing all information regarding incidents and cooperating in incident investigations \nAssisting in the resolution of health and safety matters in a positive and timely manner \nUsing and maintaining PPE\nProviding suggestions for improving work processes \nAssisting Management by supporting change to achieve desired targets \nEnsuring that plant and equipment operate within their safe working limits \nEnsuring that correct equipment is used for the job\nParticipating in risk assessment methodology\nParticipating in safety initiatives\nReceiving training and instruction as required \nMaintaining good housekeeping standards\nEssential Functions and Responsibilities of the Position: \nMaintenance Coordination\nAttends maintenance planning and review meetings to review work commitments, upcoming schedules, and completed work.\nIdentifies material needs for scheduled and planned work, and flags shortages, long-lead items, and open orders early.\nFollows up with maintenance supervisors on parts status, ordering accuracy, and installation so materials do not sit unused or go missing.\nIdentifies and helps correct ordering errors, including wrong part numbers, duplicate orders, and incorrect quantities.\nReconciles work orders and materials with Warehouse Technicians and maintenance planners.\nKitting and Staging\nPulls, kits, and stages materials by work order to support the maintenance schedule.\nVerifies kit contents against work order requirements and labels kits clearly for pickup.\nKeeps kits organized, secure, and current as maintenance schedules change.\nReturns and Inventory Control\nCoordinates the return of unused or surplus materials to inventory and enters accurate transactions in the inventory system.\nCoordinates returns to suppliers, including vendor return authorizations, packaging, shipping, and documentation for warranty, incorrect, or excess items.\nSupports receiving, put-away, bin location accuracy, and cycle counts.\nInvestigates and reconciles discrepancies between physical stock and system records.\nWarehouse Operations\nOperates forklifts and other material handling equipment safely.\nLoads, unloads, and moves materials across underground, surface, and mill areas.\nMaintains clean, organized, and safe warehouse and laydown areas.\nFollows all site safety procedures, MSHA requirements, and company policies.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned.\nQUALIFICATIONS\n\n Education and/or Experience Experience/Special Skills\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nExperience/Special Skills\nExperience in a warehouse, materials, inventory, or supply chain role, ideally in a mining, industrial, or maintenance support setting.\nRequired:\nWorking knowledge of an inventory or maintenance management system (e.g., Ellipse or a similar ERP/CMMS).\nBasic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and email.\nClear written and verbal communication with maintenance, purchasing, and warehouse personnel.\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.\nAbility to complete site training and authorization to operate forklifts and material handling equipment.\nAbility to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, and to meet remote-site work and travel requirements.\nPreferred:\nExperience in a mining or remote-site environment.\nForklift and material handling equipment operation experience.\nFamiliarity with maintenance planning and scheduling and with work order processes.\nKnowledge of industrial parts, part numbers, and vendor sourcing.\nExperience with returns, warranty claims, and supplier follow-up.\nSkills and Attributes:\nStrong organization and attention to detail.\nProactive communicator who follows up until the job is closed out.\nDependable, safety-minded, and comfortable in a fast-paced maintenance environment.\nAble to prioritize competing requests and adjust to schedule changes.\nPhysical Demands\nWhile performing the duties of this job, employees may be frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; use hand and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
