Heidelberg Materials UK is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our technical team and ensure our building materials products meet the highest standards.\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nAs a Laboratory Technician, you’ll be at the heart of our central technical operations and responsible for:\nTesting & Quality Control:\nCarry out physical testing on mortars and chemical analysis on cementitious materials.\n\nEnsure compliance with BS EN standards and local operating procedures.\n\nReview and input test data into LIMS.\n\nData input:\nAccurately input data into LIMS, reporting anomalies and errors.\n\nInput in a timely manner and review data tracking reports.\n\nWorking in a Team:\nWorking within a team on a testing rota.\n\nShared objectives with room for personal growth.\n\nEquipment:\nDaily checks to ensure compliance with quality criterion from relevant BS EN standards.\n\nDaily checks to ensure equipment is safe to operate.\n\nRoutine calibration checks to ensure equipment accuracy.\n\nMaintain high levels of cleanliness of machines and equipment.\n\nCompliance & Safety:\nFollow all safety protocols and regulatory standards.\n\nActively report near misses and ensure safe working practices.\n\nTraining:\nFull on the job training given.\n\nDevelop product knowledge of cements and supplementary cementitious materials.\n\nNVQ’s and University qualifications in Building Materials and Concrete Technology.\n\nResearch & Development:\nProduct development and research.\n\nIndustry development projects.\n\nPlant operational efficiency technical support.\n\nKey Accountabilities\nEnsure full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures\n\nLiaise with contractors and internal teams to meet customer expectations\n\nReport any defects or issues affecting product quality or safety\n\nMaintain Laboratory cleanliness and professional standards\n\nSupport investigations into product issues and complaints\n\nChallenge unsafe or non-compliant behaviours\n\nReport quality and safety near misses\n\nWhat You’ll Need\nUnderstanding of Health & Safety and Environmental compliance\n\nUnderstanding of Risk Assessments, Operating Procedures, COSHH\n\nGCSE - Maths, Science, English\n\nA level preferred (not mandatory requirement)\n\nStrong communication and analytical skills\n\nUncompromised attention to detail\n\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\n\nMature work ethic\n\nRelevant skills\nDo you have experience in Quality Control, Factory Production Control, or Data Analysis? Perhaps you have good technical experiences from a Manufacturing Technician or Engineering Technician background?
