We enable new opportunities for our customers through digitalisation.\nQuality Control Technician (QCT) - Sizewell C\nHelp Build One of the UK's Most Significant Infrastructure Projects\nHeidelberg Materials is looking for a Quality Control Technician (QCT) to join our team supporting the Sizewell C project. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to quality and safety, and a passion for ensuring materials meet the highest standards.\nAs a QCT, you will play a vital role in maintaining product quality across concrete, aggregates, asphalt, and related materials. Working closely with operational teams, contractors, and technical specialists, you'll help ensure that all products supplied to the project consistently meet customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.\nWhat You'll Be Doing\nQuality Testing & Inspection\nCarry out laboratory and field testing of concrete, aggregates, asphalt and related products.\n\nPerform sampling, testing and specimen preparation in accordance with relevant British and European standards.\n\nConduct concrete testing including slump tests, compressive strength testing and sample preparation.\n\nInspect incoming raw materials including cement, aggregates, limestone, admixtures and other materials.\n\nVerify material deliveries against specifications and quality standards.\n\nAnalyse concrete batch tickets to ensure compliance with approved mix designs.\n\nQuality Assurance & Continuous Improvement\nInvestigate product quality issues and provide feedback to technical and operational teams.\n\nSupport preliminary investigations into customer and product-related concerns.\n\nReview site practices and delivery processes to identify opportunities for improvement.\n\nHelp maintain product quality levels that meet both customer expectations and commercial requirements.\n\nHealth, Safety & Environmental Compliance\nFollow and promote Heidelberg Materials and EDF health, safety and environmental standards.\n\nActively identify, report and help resolve near misses, hazards and unsafe conditions.\n\nChallenge behaviours that could negatively impact safety, quality or environmental performance.\n\nSupport Nuclear Safety Culture requirements and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations.\n\nEnsure all testing activities are carried out safely and in accordance with approved procedures.\n\nDocumentation & Reporting\nMaintain accurate testing records, calibration logs and quality databases.\n\nProduce detailed technical reports and communicate findings clearly.\n\nReport any quality, environmental or safety concerns promptly to site management.\n\nEnsure all records are completed accurately and maintained to audit standards.\n\nStakeholder & Project Support\nLiaise with EDF contractors, site teams and office-based colleagues to support project requirements.\n\nBuild effective working relationships with customers, contractors and third-party stakeholders.\n\nParticipate in site visits to collect samples and assess operating conditions.\n\nAssist with the transportation of test specimens where required.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nEssential Skills & Experience\nExperience in quality control, materials testing, laboratory work or construction materials.\n\nStrong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high quality standards.\n\nAbility to interpret procedures, specifications and technical information.\n\nExcellent record-keeping and reporting skills.\n\nStrong communication and relationship-building abilities.\n\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\n\nA proactive approach to health, safety and environmental compliance.\n\nDesirable Experience\nExperience testing concrete, aggregates, asphalt or similar materials.\n\nKnowledge of British and European testing standards.\n\nUnderstanding of quality management systems and technical procedures.\n\nExperience working on construction, infrastructure or major projects.\n\nQualifications\nGood general level of education.\n\nUnderstanding of health, safety and environmental requirements within an operational environment.\n\nLevel 1 Award Training.\n\nCSCS Card and Triple Bar Nuclear New Build accreditation (or willingness to obtain).\n\nNVQ qualification (desirable).\n\nSSSTS qualification (desirable).\n\nTraffic Marshal training (desirable).\n\nFront Loading Shovel Operator Card (desirable).\n\nWhy Heidelberg Materials?\nAt Heidelberg Materials, we're building more than materials, we're building a sustainable future.
