Ready to make a real-world impact with your skills? At Helix, we're transforming healthcare by making genomics a standard of care. We partner with health systems and life science companies to accelerate the integration of genomic data into clinical practice. Join us in building a future where healthcare is personalized, proactive, and powered by genomics.\nYour Career Path & Development\nWe are committed to your long-term growth. We invest in you through:\nAI-Native Engineering: We've standardized on a strong, well-integrated set of agentic coding tools, so you spend your time directing agents that plan, write, and test code rather than evaluating a dozen options yourself.\nContinuous Learning: Sharpen your skills with full access to the entire Udemy learning database.\nInternal Mentorship: Learn from experts across our global team through tech demos, pair programming, and collaborative projects.\nClear Advancement: We provide a framework for you to grow from one role to the next, with clear expectations and support from your manager.\nTravel: Opportunities to travel to the US for collaboration with our global teams.\nWhat is special about these roles?\nAt Helix, our engineering teams build the systems that make genomic medicine real - from the lab bench to the patient portal to the research platform. We're hiring at the Senior and Senior II levels across four teams. Depending on your background and interests, you may be matched to one of the following:\nExperience (Patient & Provider) - Builds the product experiences that connect patients, health systems, and healthcare providers to genomic insights. The Patient team (PHP) owns the HRN enrollment flow, results delivery, and accessioning integrations. The Provider team (PRO) simplifies the ordering, management, and billing of clinical genetic tests.\nLab Systems (LABS) - Owns the laboratory-facing services that keeps Helix’s sequencing & supply chain operations running. You’ll build and maintain scalable platforms and fullstack software that support the lab and integrates with analysis pipelines: lab workflows, instrument automations, sample accessioning, inventory management and distribution.\nData, Operations & Governance (DOG) - Owns how Helix accesses, models, and governs its data. This team builds the backend services, APIs, pipelines and infrastructure behind it, and owns the core data model that Strategy and Operations teams build on. Governance and privacy are a core mandate and the team owns the services that track which data exists, who can use it, and how it's accessed.\nGenomics Platform (GENP) - Builds the infrastructure, pipelines, and applications that process terabytes of genomic data weekly. Supports exome sequencing, confirmation testing, bioinformatics QC, and return-of-results workflows.\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will:\nLead projects from scoping through implementation to successful outcomes - not just output, but real impact for the business and users.\nDelegate implementation to AI agents with precise, unambiguous instructions, then critically evaluate output for correctness and production-readiness using evals and other quality checks, maintaining audit-ready compliance throughout. \nExplore and champion new AI tools, frameworks, and workflows, including orchestrating multiple AI agents across a pipeline; document pros/cons, best practices, and pitfalls; and create reusable prompt templates or context frameworks that elevate the entire team's AI fluency.\nDesign and implement software systems for Helix's products and services, delivering well-tested, performant, and reliable solutions that consider the full lifecycle of a project (including on-call).\nTake ownership of services and significant areas of the codebase, developing deep domain expertise and serving as a go-to technical resource for your team.\nCollaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, user experience researchers, scientists, and business leaders to drive meaningful outcomes.\nProactively identify and address technical debt before it becomes a long-term problem, and encourage and enable your team to do the same.\nMentor engineers within your team and contribute to improving engineering practices, with growing influence beyond your immediate team.\nContribute to setting technical standards and participate in decision-making that affects teams beyond your direct sphere of influence.\nAbout you:\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.\n7+ years of equivalent professional experience as a Software Engineer.\nProficiency with distributed systems built on cloud infrastructure - AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar.\nStrong engineering expertise with proficiency in an established language - backend (Go, Java, Python, Scala, Rust) or full-stack (TypeScript/React + a backend language)\nDaily, hands-on use of AI coding harnesses as a core part of your development workflow.\nDemonstrated ability to delegate implementation work to AI agents. This means decomposing problems, writing clear and precise instructions, and iterating on prompts to get production-quality results.\nSolid understanding of software engineering best practices including testing, code review, CI/CD, and observability.\nDemonstrated ability to take a nebulous project, scope it, determine a solution and course of action, and implement and launch it with minimal external guidance.\nA strong product engineering mindset with a clear focus on customer and business outcomes.\nExperience mentoring other engineers and a track record of elevating the practices of those around you.\nFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code tooling/frameworks (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK).\nFamiliarity with database design, data manipulation, and data quality techniques.\nAdaptable in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities may change quickly and frequently.\nDemonstrated willingness to learn new domains (e.g., genomics, healthcare) and associated technologies.\nFluent in English, both written and spoken.\nPluses:\nFamiliarity with regulated software systems in any industry (e.g., HIPAA, ISO, FDA).\nFamiliarity and experience developing and architecting event-driven architectures.\nExperience with AWS technologies and serverless infrastructure.\nExperience in the life sciences/pharmaceutical industry.\nWhat We Offer: A Commitment to Your Success\nWe take care of our team with benefits that provide flexibility and support for your growth-what we call prestaciones superiores a las de la ley. \nCompetitive Compensation: A strong base salary plus an annual performance bonus.Expected Helix Base: $101,333 - $150,750 MXN/monthly\nExpected Helix Discretionary Annual Bonus: 5-10% of your annual salary\n\nComprehensive Health: 100% employer-paid premium for our Bronze Family Health Insurance plan, with eligibility from your first day.\nAllowances & Stipends:Home Office Stipend: we will reimburse up to $500 USD for essential workspace items, so you are fully equipped to perform your best. \nPhone Allowance: 700 MXP monthly.\nIn-Office Perks: 80 MXP daily for transport and 250 MXP daily for snacks on office days.\nGenerous Time Off: Flexible vacation policy plus all national holidays.\n\nHybrid & Remote Flexibility:Hybrid: Our office is located at WeWork - Varsovia, Mexico City. We gather intentionally in our office space once per week to work on things like pair programming/live collaboration, skillshare sessions, social segments, team lunches, and volunteering opportunities. Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX.\nRemote (for team members living 80 km or more outside Mexico City): We'll invite you to our CDMX office 3-6 times a year for key training and team meetings. These visits are a great chance to connect in person and strengthen our Helix community. Helix cover travel and accommodation.\n\nExpected Interview Process:\n1) Recruiter Screen 2) Technical Interviews 3) Leadership Interviews\nWhat To Expect During Your Onboarding Week:\nWe want to make sure your first week is spent learning the foundations. You will be invited to live orientation sessions and spend time with your hiring manager developing your individual roadmap to success. This experience will include sessions that cover your benefits, security & privacy training, an introduction to the OKR framework used at Helix and our communication tools and norms.\nWhat To Expect During Your First 90 days:\nFirst 5 days: You’ll spend time learning the Helix way, completing training and onboarding for your roles, and getting introduced to your team and relevant stakeholders.
