We value genuine relationships, high standards, ownership, clear communication, and a true commitment to client delight.\nAs an AI-native agency, we use modern tools to enhance the quality, speed, and clarity of our work, while keeping human judgment, creativity, and relationships at the center.\nResponsibilities\nKey Outcome: Deliver high-quality, high-performing eCommerce frontend experiences that AOA is known for, with predictability, agentic-efficiency, and collaborative ownership.\nBuild production-grade storefronts in React and modern headless commerce frameworks such as Shopify Hydrogen.\nDevelop and customize classic Shopify: Liquid themes, apps, Checkout Extensions, and store configuration.\nServe as AOA's Shopify technical lead: set the Shopify standard, review and oversee Shopify work, and be the platform authority the team relies on.\nLead Shopify migrations and establish CI/CD and deployment pipelines for themes and apps.\nTurn product-level objectives into clear, actionable engineering tasks and own the technical approach.\nTranslate Figma designs into reusable storefront components and design-system primitives that help the team ship faster.\nConnect storefronts to commerce and content APIs, handling variants, inventory, pricing, loading, errors, empty states, and partial data.\nPlan and sequence your work across multiple client projects, bringing recommendations rather than open-ended problems.\nWrite tested, maintainable TypeScript that follows each client codebase's conventions.\nSelf-review your work and catch issues before QA, with particular care on revenue-bearing flows.\nConduct code reviews and hold the bar on quality across the work you review.\nUse AI coding tools and agents thoughtfully while keeping engineering judgment in control.\nCommunicate proactively across a remote team, sharing progress and surfacing risks early.\nQualifications\n5+ years building production frontend applications, with deep, current React and TypeScript expertise.\n4+ years building and owning Shopify experience across classic and headless builds.\nPrior experience working in an agency environment and as an independent contractor, with the ability to manage multiple clients or projects in parallel.\nStrong experience on enterprise-grade accounts, products, or projects.\nStrong experience in Liquid theme development (Online Store 2.0), Shopify apps, Checkout Extensions, store configuration, and migrations.\nExperience as the senior technical authority on Shopify: setting the standard, reviewing and overseeing others' Shopify work, and owning CI/CD and version control for themes or apps.\nA track record of owning storefront features end-to-end, from ambiguous requirements to production.\nStrong frontend fundamentals: semantic HTML, modern CSS, responsive design, accessibility, and browser behavior.\nExperience translating Figma designs into accurate, responsive, accessible interfaces.\nExperience integrating REST or GraphQL APIs (Storefront API or similar) and managing client and server state, including cart.\nA strong quality discipline: typed, tested code and self-review before QA.\nAbility to estimate your work, commit within a delivery cycle, and reliably deliver.\nExcellent professional English, spoken and written, with reliable overlap with standard US Central Time business hours.\nFluent, practical use of AI coding tools as part of your engineering workflow.\nBased in Latin America and able to work as an independent contractor.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with other headless commerce stacks (such as commercetools or BigCommerce) or with SaaS and B2B product frontends in Next.js, in addition to Shopify.\nExperience building or maintaining a design system or component library used across multiple storefronts or products.\nFamiliarity with frontend testing and CI tooling, such as Playwright, Vitest or Jest, and Testing Library.\nExperience with conversion optimization, A/B testing, or analytics instrumentation on commerce sites.\nExperience working in a points-based or sprint-based delivery model.\nA portfolio, GitHub, or code samples you can share.\nYou do not need to check every single box to apply.
