Morning, midday and evening shifts including weekends & holidays (hours and days will vary as per business needs)\n\nAbout the Role\nAs a Food Safety & Quality Assurance Technician, you will act as the first checkpoint in the effective food safety and quality assurance system. Reporting to the site FSQA Manager, you will work closely with the Production and Receiving teams to uphold our FSQA standards at the distribution center. This will involve quantitative measurements, environmental and product sampling, inspection of incoming raw materials and observation of the production process.\nWhat you will be doing:\nComplete monitoring activities and maintain accurate reports and records (ex. GMP records, temp logs);\nBe involved in quality control activities, such as intake, WIP and finished production inspections;\nPerform pre and post-operation and sanitation monitoring of the food processing environment and equipment;\nDeliver FSQA training to new and existing associates;\nConduct environmental monitoring and equipment calibration verification, (Environmental sampling & ATP swabbing)\nCreate tickets when escalations are required for product non-conformances;\nWork with the Quality & Technical team to conduct sensory and microbiological shelf life studies;\nMaintain clear and concise communication with the Operations, Procurement and Logistics teams;\nUphold HelloFresh’s protocol for achieving the highest level of food safety and quality assurance.\nWork in compliance with OH&S acts and regulations. \nUse personal protective and safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer and report workplace hazards and dangers to the supervisor or employer.\nOther duties as assigned\nAt a minimum, you have: \nPost-secondary education in Biological, Chemical or Food Sciences or equivalent experience;\nMinimum 2 years of experience in a food safety or quality assurance role in the food, cosmetic or other regulated industry;\nUnderstanding of HACCP principles, the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations and GFSI schemes;\nFlexibility to work overtime, weekends, varying shifts and holiday work, as required\nWilling and able to work in a refrigerated environment (0°C to 4°C)\nAbility to communicate in English, both verbal and written\nBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (Calendar, Gmail, Docs, Sheets) and video conferencing (Hangouts, Google Meet)\nTeam player who is comfortable collaborating with other departments but also working independently;\nComfortable working in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment\nWhat you’ll get in return:\nCompetitive salary and health benefits\nShift premiums are available for afternoon and overnight shifts \n75% discount on HelloFresh or Chefs Plate weekly box subscription\nHigh impact work to help feed thousands of families in Canada\nOpportunity to learn and grow\nWork with a hard-working and supportive team\nWorking Conditions:\nIt’s no surprise that as a food company, we use many ingredients that may be considered common allergens (i.e. peanuts, tree nuts, milk, etc.).
