You will work closely with the Engineering Lead and Front-End Engineering team to develop scalable backend services, real-time communication systems, and API integrations that power our customer platform.\nIf you enjoy writing clean, reliable code, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and taking ownership from development through deployment, we would love to meet you.\nRequirements\nBuild, maintain, and improve backend services using TypeScript and NestJS.\nDesign, develop, and maintain GraphQL and REST APIs following established engineering standards.\nDevelop real-time features using Socket.io and WebSockets.\nBuild and maintain integrations with Twilio, including Voice, TaskRouter, Sync, and customer communication workflows.\nCollaborate closely with Front-End Engineers using Next.js to deliver seamless user experiences.\nDesign efficient database models and queries using PostgreSQL.\nTroubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues while improving system reliability.\nWrite clean and well-tested code.\nParticipate in code reviews and incorporate feedback effectively.\nWork closely with Product, QA, and Engineering to estimate, plan, and deliver features on schedule.\nTake ownership of assigned work from ticket through production deployment.\nOn-site, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM\nQualifications\n3+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.\nStrong proficiency in TypeScript and NestJS (or similar backend frameworks).\nSolid understanding of backend performance optimization and scalable system design.\nAbility to design, build, and maintain GraphQL and REST APIs.\nStrong understanding of PostgreSQL and relational database design.\nKnowledge of real-time technologies such as Socket.io, WebSockets, or similar frameworks.\nFamiliarity with AI-powered applications, LLM integrations, and modern AI tools.\nAbility to integrate third-party APIs into scalable backend systems.\nStrong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills.\nAbility to work effectively with global teams while being based in our Miami office.\nComfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.\nExperience with Twilio services (Voice, TaskRouter, Sync, Studio, or Flex).\nKnowledge of Docker, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.\nFamiliarity with Redis or other caching solutions.\nPreferred: 3+ years of professional experience with PHP\nBenefits\nAetna medical, dental, vision, and life insurance\n10 days of paid time off (PTO) plus most federal holidays\nCompany-paid parking pass\nComplimentary office snacks, coffee, and beverages\nTeam lunches and company events\nCollaborative, in-office culture in Brickell, Miami\nHigh-performing and supportive team culture\nWork alongside experienced engineers using modern technologies\nOpportunity to make a visible impact and grow your career\nHelloGov is an equal opportunity employer.
